TM issue?


Are celebrities names' considered TM violations? Also are .US name gonna rise in popularity do you think?

It is possible that celebrities' names might be considered a TM violation, I would suggest you to stay away from TM names. Also if you happen to register one of the celebrities' names, you may land in trouble if you use that name in a wrong way.

I would like to think that .us would rise in popularity before some of these other new extentions such as .aero, .mobi.....etc...
The only true way to avoid problems with peoples names, is to put a disclaimer saying that any relevance to an existing name is purely coincidental... but as stated before, prob best to avoid a real persons name.

If you have to question if it's a trademark issue, there's a good chance it may be an issue. If you're planning on buying a domain then turing around and selling it, it is likely that a potential buyer is "scared" away fearing the domain is a trademark issue and would not want to put down money simply to have it taken away.
