.edu names

Hey guys,
Quick question: is it really hard to get .edu names or something? NamePros doesn't sell 'em and Namcheap doesn't either.

Also, are you required to be an educational institution to get a .edu name?

I'm living on a dorm right now, and the guys on my hall and I would like to build a website for our hall.

you need to be an educational institute (accredited or otherwise) to acquire a .edu IMO.

Only educational institutions listed on the list of nationally recognized accrediting agencies can apply for .edu domains.

.edu is for educational/academic institutions only. Use .com/net/org instead.
