| Senior Member | Godaddy domain transfer I have started a domain name transfer from my side, the name i want to transfer to godaddy is at dotster. If i go to the pending transfers section, it says "Transaction ID and Security Code Required" , i would need to type in a Transaction ID and a Security Code, and it says i should have got it in email, but i didnt get it yet. Will i get it when the current owner accepts my transfer request, or?

| Senior Member | I think if it is @ dotster, you wont get the email from godaddy. That is a godaddy thing to transfere a name that is with them. What is the TLD? Some require you get a code. What is the email on the domian at dotster? that is the one that should get an email asking if it is ok to transfere away from them. Have you unlocked the name? RickyG |

| Senior Member | I did a recent transfer from Netsol to Godaddy. it went like this. 1. Logged into godaddy and requested transfer 2. Godaddy sends an email with security code and Tr. ID. 3. Go to godaddy and input them and then godaddy sends something to the other registrar (netsol in my case) 4. Netsol sent an email to whois email of the name and asked if the trasnfer is right. If not, contact them, if right, fine, wait 3 days. 5. The day came and godaddy sent me an email saying transfer was complete and the name is in my godaddy account. p.S: Dont forget to unlock the name at the source registrar before starting the whole process. | Senior Member | I cant unlock the domain, because its not mine yet. So if i understand right, the current owner should have got an email, and when he accepts my transfer request i will get an email with the codes and then if i typed it in the transfer will start? What if the owner wont accept the transfer just leave it? (i have payed him for the domain a week ago already, but we have both signed a contract, and i got an invoice in FAX as well)

| NamePros Regular | As the common practice in domain sales - there should be no registrar transfer involved when the domain is sold, only pushing within the same registrar (with some exceptions like Yahell which doesn't allow pushes). So, in my understanding - first you need to gain complete control of your domain (in your case - within Dotster) and only then proceed with transfer. Also, there's one thing everybody forgot to mention. If the domain is EPP-based (i.e. NO com/net), you'll need to obtain an EPP-Auth code BEFORE proceeding with the transfer request. Good luck!!! |

| Senior Member | I have just made an account at dotster, should i tell the current owner to push the domain to my account now? Because ive tried to request the transfer of the domain there (btw its .com), and it said i can only start a domain transfer from another registrar.

| NamePros Regular | Yes, you can tell your seller your username at Dotser and he'll be able to push the domain. Then you'll change all contacts, unlock and initiate the transfer from GoDaddy. He was right about starting transfer only from another registrar. However, transfer and push are different things. |

| Senior Member | Sent him an email (forth this week, no reply so far..) to push the domain to my new account at dotster, no answer yet. I have called him today at 11am (his time), he lives in California, but he wasnt there, so i left a message to him. I hope he is just on a trip and forgot to tell me that he is going to be away for a week or something. The exciting part is that the domain is going to be expired on 13-MAR-06. I will try to get in contact with the support team of dotster in days, but i think they cant force him to push the domain, even if i have the evidence that im the legal owner of it.
