Questions about advertising, pricing, & traffic

Hello all,

Long time hobbiest. Relatively new to reselling. I have a few questions related to getting started with my marketing and reselling efforts. I sure would appreciate a few words from the more experienced out there.

Questions:
1/ Should I pay for classified advertisements or is this a waste of money?
2/ Should I list an asking price for each domain, a high-low price, or leave it open for bidding?
3/ I have a Web site up presenting some of my domains. It is at www.DomainExperience.com. Would anyone have a second to take a look and do a 15 second critic? i.e. should I highlight the good names and let the dogs filter down to the last page? Should there be more selling speak? How can I drive more traffic to this site?

Anyway...I have to run to my day job. I'll check back later.

1) Depends. Paying for advertising can be helpful if you want to get higher exposure to a domain name. Regardless if you advertise or not, your sale price will still have to be reasonable. I have paid for listing services, but never for classified ads nor "featured" listings.
2) Depends. If you want to sell the domain fast, put a low-moderate asking price on it. If you are looking to get the most for the sale, leave the domain open for offers.
3) You can direct more traffic to your site by adsense, overture, link exchanges, or paying NP$ here at NP for clicks. (see top toolbard NP$ Store, then Buy visitors for NP$). You may also be interested going to the Marketplace area of the forum and looking ing the NP$ section. Often, other members will get you cheap traffic to the site of your choice for NP$ or $ through paypal.

Nice looking site. Pleasing enough to the eye and easy to navigate.
I think that a lot of your sites are well overpriced though as a lot of the names are very long and some are long and hyphenated.
You do have some nice ones though.

The fact that some are so overpriced (IMO , of course) would mean that I would not get as far as the third page as I would not bother after the prices on the second page.

Yes, very nice design. Like it.

Only issue is how you group the domains. Simply having six pages with a "next" link between them doesn't make it easy to go straight to a specific section; some kind of index would help.

And pricing is certainly for end users.

Good afternoon,

Thanks to everyone for your comments. Sounds like I have a few things I could work on; a/ build some sort of index or navigation into the domain listings, b/ set a price on domains I have had appraised or have a definate selling price while leaving the others open for offers, c/ I can look to getting some further traffic from other forum members or continue to pursue paid for advertising.

Great comments...I may post again to see if I've come closer the mark.

I incorporated the suggestions made by those above. Thanks again! Anyone else reading this post...I welcome any suggestions about making www.DomainExperience.com more inviting to other domain buyers. Just let me know if there are other things I could do to make "seeing" the right domain easier.

Definately better. But I would put up a bigger For Sale or all domain open to offer message on the individual portfolio page.

The new organisation is great; much better to navigate.

I'm not sure about removing the prices completely. Personally, I prefer to see a guide price so that I can tell whether the seller has an unrealistically high view of what the domain's worth (in which case I may not bother making an offer). Perhaps making your "open to offers" more prominent than it was before, or labelling the prices as "Buy it Now" (which makes it clear that you'd sell for less) would have been a better solution. Just a thought.

Oh, and the image link right at the top-left of your "gallery" pages is broken (it ends "html" but needs to end "htm").

Still looks superb.

(I suggest you wait for other opinions before you rush out and change anything!)
