Sales advice needed

Hello everyone,
I'm new to domaining and have a few questions about selling names. It seems like so much of the investment aspect relies on luck (i.e., the individual, company, etc. that needs/wants your name realizes it, searches for the name, and contacts you because it's for sale). Are there any methods folks would like to share for more aggressively marketing the names? I have my names parked on sedo and listed as for sale, but, of course, those will only be seen by people actively looking for names.

Is there any value in contacting companies or groups that could use specific names (e.g. offer widgets.com to a widget making company) to more aggressively try to make sales?
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/167030-sales-advice-needed.html

Thanks in advance for help

There are some people who make sales this way. Your pretty much being a cold-call salesman, but if you have the right approach you can make it happen.

There is a thread here that has a bunch of sample emails for potential clients but I couldn't find it. Maybe someone can supply the link.

Best success I have had selling names is parking, then list for sale (in variety of locations) with full stats. If you name stinks, your stats will stink and it will be hard to sell. If you have decent stats - not just traffic but clicks - you should do well.

Thanks for the input so far; In addition to sedo, what are some good sites to park/sell through?

For revenue, Namedrive pays pretty well - much better than Sedo IMO. Afternic.com is also a reputable parking/selling site.

selling vs. parking

Thanks...and just to make sure I understand, you can list for sale on any or all of these sites, but can only park via one source, correct?

Yes that is right. It would be impossible to park one domain at two different places.

You may want to list at tdnam, afternic, and ebay as well.
