Yep! This is an article i have typed out people! I wanted to help the Np-ers, so did this stuff! This is an article for people who are totally new to domaining and webdeveloping!

What are Domain Names???

Domain names are the word sequences users enter in their address bar of an internet navigator to visit a specific web site. Each domain name is assigned to an IP address. The DNS ( Domain Name System ) is used to translate the IP addresses into words. The big hype the Domain names have created is nothing but this! Just the word(s) with an extension ( .com / .net / .info / .biz ect. You will know as you read ).

How Do I get one??

You can register domain names with lots of registrars found on the net. You just search for available domain names ( Whats available is actually infinite but sometimes the name you want might be registered by other people ). Then you pay the amount ( Domains are worth 8 - 100$ these days based on their extension ). Here are some good registrars:

godaddy.com
namepros.com

enom.com
namecheap.com

You can compare the prices and choose the best one! I have got my domain so what do i do.........??? Just read on..........

What am i supposed to do now??

What you must understand is what you can "really" do with these magic things!! Domains are not how they used to be! People just used to use them for navigating through the net. There has been a tremendous evolution in the past decade. Some people's business is domain name(s). Actually one uses his/her domain name to reach their site. Well you can start your own website by using your domain name. But nowadays people arent intent on building websites. "Domaining" is their Business. Just Buy some domains and sell them making a huge profit. Yes thats it! Thats Domaining - Buy and sell Domain names. So its your choice whether to build a site or continue domaining..........

This is where you begin. What you must understand is that the website you visit is placed in a remote server. A server is something like a processor that has awesome internet speed and is on 24/7. So you are actually connecting to this server when you visit a website. So if you want to start your website you need a good server to place your files in so that the whole world can see it. To connect to this server one needs the ip address of the server. Well as you have read before Domains are always there. Yes you use Domain names instead of these stupid ip addresses. That makes it easy to remember than those numbers. This is what the DNS does. Connect our Domain with the server.
Each and every server has something called as a nameserver. And when you get a domain name you will be able to point these domain names at the nameserver you want to point at. I guess that makes it clear!

Where do i get the server from?

You dont actually get the server itself. You get a small portion from it. A little place where you can place your site in. These servers are distributed by a lot of people on the net that call themselves "Webhosts". Thats hosting people. So when you get some space from a server, you actually get "Hosting from a webhost". Simple. So one day you can become a webhost! Owning your own servers and providing people with server

These are paid hosts. There a generous people on the net giving away hosting for free ( Dont worry you wont get domains for free

) :

geocities.com ( They rule! Everyone must be having a geocities site. You start of there.............. )

You dont necessarily need a domain name you can even have subdomains like untitled.google.com or irule.untitled.com . Subdomains are free and they are provided by the hosts themselves. Some sites like Geocities dont give subdomains but they give something like this: geocities.com/untitled . So you have it like / your-name . So now you can start of wih a small subdomain and start your own webpage..................

Webpage?? I dont see any pages???

Ofcourse you dont see anything. What you've got to do now is start constructing your site. Lay the basic foundation of your site. What is it going to be about? Whats your plan? Whats your invetment? When you have decided upon all that you can get ready. A webpage is a basic html / php / cgi / asp page. Those four are coding languages. Once you learn them you will be able to construct your own page. HTML is the most basic language. Very simple to learn. Here is a good tutorial site for your programming needs:

Go search for tutorials there and then build your site. You can even design your site using programs like Adobe Photoshop. Use it to design your whole webpage and then use your codes on them to make your site functional. Again go to pixel2life.com where they teach you to do everything! So once your files are ready test-run it on your computer. If it workd fine transfer it to your server using programs like:

FlashFXP ( flashfxp.com )

Search for tutorials on that site for you to learn on how to transfer the files. ITS ALL DONE! Your dream site is fully functional!
Tell people about it. Get some traffic to your site. Make hot cash.

You have just learnt one part of it. To make your own website. But remember about Domaining.............. The simple but magical way of making money

Domaining.

Domaining is one industry that relies truly upon Luck. You have to have little talent, lots of investments, some brains and LUCK. Just go register a name that you and the people would like. Build a huge site and make lots of traffic. Then one fine day sell it. yep

. It depends on your luck whether anyone would buy it or not. What you must do for selling a domain name is park it at good domain marketplace and make it available for sale. Here are some good sites for parking your domain at:

sedo.com
afternic.com
pool.com

Parking is nothing. you just point your nameserver at sedo's nameservers if you want to park it at sedo. Follow the instructions there and you will understand better. So once people start seeing your name on these sies they will contact you if they want to buy it. If you get a good offer let it go. Give the domain to that guy.

Transferring Domain Names

Transferring is done when you aren't happy about any Domain Registrar. You will be given the permission to transfer it to other registrars with a small fee.

Domain Name extensions

Wondered ever why domain names have this peculiar .com, .net, .info, .biz, .org etc. at the ends of their names? They are just Domain name extensions. It gives you wide variety to choose from. You have better options. Some extensions are made exclusively for countries like .us (USA), .in (INDIA), .de(Deutch), .eu ( EUROPE) etc. Only the residents of that country will b able to register them. So Good luck getting your own domain name! Who knows maybe you will be able to sell it for like 10 millions......... We can never say.... lol

I guess this is all one needs to know to start off! This guide is for the totally new fellows who know nothing about the domain/web industry. Everyone start off like a newbie then then go up and up. Like -RJ- ( lol sorry ). Bet he didnt know anything when he first started. He is one of the most successful domainers now i guess.

Just an FYI since this is a newbie thread... listing your parked pages (in your sig for example) as links can lead to having your account closed and revenue withheld at most major ppc co's.

It's not just sig links, tho. I check out many of the 'NP-for-click' links posted here under the "NP$ Store" banner. Regularly I see links there to SEDO pages.

If you're totally new to this: don't drive traffic to parked pages.

It artificially drives up the traffic and will possibly get your parking revenue with-held.
