Newbie Questions

Hi, I'm a complete newbie when it comes to buying/selling domain names.

My question is what registrat do you use. I've only registered domain names with 1&1.com. And they require you to keep it for 60 days before you can transfer.

Do places like enon (or is it enom) let you transfer after 7 days?

I guess my question is what domain name rergistat do you prefer?

Thanks for the help,

Dale

My preferred registrars are Enom, NameCheap, and Godaddy.

For .ca domains I use domainsatcost and baremetal.

I mainly use the following:
Enom.com (Probably most common reseller for traders)
Registerfly.com (best control panel and easiest transfers)
Fabulous.com (minimum 100 names I believe for reseller, good pricing if you qualify)
Godaddy.com (has 60 day registrar transfer rule, harder to push)
Dotster.com

For trading, you need ones that are easy to "push" domains to new users and create user accounts. If you buy/sell in the aftermarket and pick up drops, you will probably end up with accounts at dozens of registrars, and conslidate to a few favorites.

I believe most registrars allow ownership transfers immediately. All the ones I listed do. All registrars disallow transfers to another registrar for 60 days per ICANN rules. godaddy/WWD disallow registrar transfers not only 60 days after registration, but also within 60 days of a registrant name change.

I've never used 1&1, but I've heard that they are not the best. I prefer Namecheap, GoDaddy & Dotster (aside from NamePros, of course).

Namecheap makes it really easy to push domains from account to account, but I can't remember if they have a 60 day rule.

I use Godaddy. You cant transfer the domain to another registar within 60 days but I believe you can push the domain to another account.

We use enom and godaddy, Domain transfer is restricted in the first 60 days after the initial registration with both enom as well as godaddy. Only internal transfer i.e push from one account to another is possible in the initial 60 days.

Cancer Survivorship
godaddy, enom, registerfly are the main ones I use with no problems, read the domain company reviews section for opinions on all of them from forum members.

The best registrar hands down is Moniker.com. The CEO responds to inqueries you have within the company within a reasonable amount of time (1-2 days).
