Anchor Text

Any Idea on the max number of characters the text should have over the link?

I made some links from my site to my other sites, and they they have 8-10 words per link. My thought is it's to many and I hope it's not completely devaluing the links.

What is the max number of words? Or does it not matter?

I don't think there is a limit to the number of words you put into an anchor text.

However, it would be a little bit irritating to readers if you had an entire essay anchored to one link ...

Tho, it may be a good marketting strategy!

I don't think there's a max number of words. However, two points, based on my own (moderate) experience: The more words you have, the less each of them counts for. Also, it's helpful to have your exact keyword phrase as the anchor text, and I'm guessing your 8-10 word phrase isn't it.

this is absolutely true in my experience. Don't count more than 8.
