| First Time Poster! | developing on website I've browsed a lot and can't find information on developing your own website. Do the "domain parking companies" design the websites for you and create all the links? I've already designed one of my websites (using dreamweaver) and I need to add a search script. But I'm not sure how that works since most search scripts on similar sites only return ads, not content. How can I add search to my website? Can someone tell me the steps to creating your own website? Is it? 1. design it 2. add search script 3. link to either yahoo or google ad programs Many Thanks! |

| NamePros Member | Domain parking companies do not build out a website, in the traditional sense. They essentially create a one or two page site that serves as a landing page consisting of links. These links, when clicked, provide revenue to the domain parking company which in turn pay you a percentage, etc. Quote:
My next step involves developing a marketing strategy from which I create an identity system that best describes my marketing message. I research the competition thoroughly to get familiarized with the market and further define my strategy. By the way, this will usually take about 2 weeks. When I'm ready to design the site I begin by creating the identity system, which is comprised of logos, color schemes and other visual elements. When I'm satisfied with how it looks, I start scripting the processes or other functionalities, like databases, javascript, etc, etc. Througout the development I also develop the SEO strategies by keeping an eye on text placement, copyrighting, keywords, etc. But, the primary optimization strategy that I use is to design with stylesheets (CSS) as much as possible. I toggle between viewing with and without to get a feel for what a search engine will see first, etc. During development, I also check for cross-browser compatibility AND screen resolution optimization. The last thing I do is add content. After I'm done designing or programming the site, it's on to search engine marketing SEM for about 3 months of submitting/tweaking/updating/reviewing. Note: I develop sites based on XHTML and CSS standards. I often go back and forth from research to design throughout the development of a project. It's an organic process for me. We all have our preferences. I hope this will help you. Last edited by tzmartin; 12-12-2005 at 11:56 PM. | |
