| Genuine Logophile Member Services | Reserves don't really work in forum auction settings IMHO... If you set the starting bid at $1.00 and then you say the reserve is $50.00... none of the bids before $50 matter, so the starting bid is really $50.00... If you start your auction at $1.00 and say the reserve will be revealed when reached... then you could make the reserve anything you wanted with no one governing your reserve price... and that's not fair to anyone.. It works at venues like eBay because it can't be cheated... and the bidder feels confident that at least if the reserve is met, they will win the auction and is not being milked for higher bids. my .02 on reserves in forum auction Jennifer |
