| New Member | how to rank well in the search engines Hi all, im new to website design. I've just brought a domain name www.doakwolf.com I want to rank well in the search engines, just wondering what other people have tried? paid services? free ones? link trading? I have read a little on other websites. I have brought a domain at www.cheapdomainseller.com and hosting. They have a traffic product on there, would this be recommended or go else where? Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreicated. |

| NamePros Regular | I assume Oxide means this for CSS approval: http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator-uri.html Or this for XHTML approval: http://validator.w3.org/ I don't believe these approvals matter to the search engines. I suggest that you find your catagory in DMOZ and submit your website for inclusion in the DMOZ directory. DMOZ selects websites based on quality, not popularity. A few weeks after you are in the DMOZ directory, Google will list you in their DMOZ equivalent directory, at the bottom. As your site moves up in popularity, you move up in the Google directory, and eventually the Google search engine should bring you visitors. I had to wait 6 months. MSN and Yahoo search engines should be sending you visitors soon after your submission to DMOZ. But you need to select a title for your webpage that is an overture search term. But don't select a search term that is too popular or you will be competing with too many websites. I suggest that you choose a title for each of your web pages with an overture of around 1000.
