Name is probably in grace period. Should enter redemption period soon, could last 2 months and even more before it's realeased.

Look through that - But it can be off a bit , Registrars are acting differently on some extensions ATM

Not to mention you have to worry about Peeps Back-Ordering

Picking up dropped domains is a lot more complicated than it should be. But until ICANN discover a better solution we're stuck playing their annoying rules.

Here's a guide to the whole process of domain expiration: http://www.dropwatch.com/blog/?p=8. It will give you an idea on how long you'll need to wait before you can register an expired domain.

Takes usually 45 days before ICANN/register relists the domain. Until then you'll have to wait.

ICANN/registers are getting very strict on that now, since that transfer a couple months ago (the one with Yahoo and a Australian register). Locked godaddy down cold for weeks, too.

brianmn is on a distinguished road

If the domain name is a good one there is a large chance that the original owner is going to get it back.

Otherwise it is a good chance that somebody, or many people have backordered the domain name.

As the others said, the grace period.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/130482-how-long-until-domain-is-expired.html

Waiting is long and tiring. And frustrating when you forget for a week then go and check and see that some other so-and-so has registered.

As you can tell, I speak from experience.

Yes If the old owner gets a chance
I recently had 5 Names that expired because a Registrar who shall remain nameless refused to transfer them until they had expired . Only 20 days of the supposed 45 day grace period had past when magically all 5 had been re-regged by a company listed at the same address as the registrar, all have since been sold to other people.
