I was looking in the football directory of yahoo and I found this site:

http://www.el.com/elinks/sports/football/nfl/

Now, #1 the page is obviously a POS, has no info that anybody has to know, is basically just there. And out of the Millions of sites its one of the few listed in the Yahoo directory.

The thing I noticed is it has a link to the yahoo Directory, as well as the rest of the directories on the left side panel.

I guess my question is does linking to those directories do something for your site? I know hes got a 2 letter domain name, so it has that going for it...but my thought was that had something to do with it? I don't see a lot of people linking back to that site, and doesn't look like he does many Link Exchanges. I dunno.

But if I link to their directories of where I wanna go, will it help me get my site listed there? Or do you actually have to pay the money to see your site there? If it can be done FREELY, what else is good to do?

I think for those directories you have to pay to be listed. I've heard stories of people being listed for free in Yahoo after a while, but I'm not sure if that's true or not. I do know that an outbound link will not get you listed.
