Where should I ask this question?

Hey folks,

I have a question regarding:

Domain forwarding, specifically... forwarding a traffic domain to a LIVE website.

I am wondering about the BEST way to do this and...
Is it a good idea (generally)
Are there drawbacks - in relation to search engine indexing, ranking etc.

Other stuff I should know?

I guess I just asked my question(s) - CAN ANYONE HELP?

Thanks,
Mike

P.S. If you have a suggestion as to where else I should ask this, please let me know! Thanks.

What is your goal for using forwarded domains?

It sounds like you're going to want to learn about doing a "301 redirect" if you want the best results for search engines. That would effectively transfer any benefits from the old domain to the new one.

A Google search for 301 redirect should return multiple sites with methods for doing so.

Thanks RJ.

Scenario:

Have a domain that gets say 50 type-ins per day.
Also, have a seperate LIVE website.
Is it "okay" to simply FORWARD that domain from my registrar account to my live website?

* I am NOT concerned about the (P)(R), ranking or indexing of the traffic domain.
* I also don't want my LIVE site penalized.

I don't mind looking up info on 301, but in layman's terms, what is the difference between a 301 and just "regular domain forwarding?"

> Thanks again,
Mike
