Woudl it be possible to host your own domain names?

Would it be possible to host your own domain names? sorta like usiung your computer to host your webspace. How would the domain providers create domain names? So it might be possible to do this yourself?

You can host ur own domain name at ur COMPUTER using APACHE....

It is possible all you have to do is register the domain name and then use a free dns service like http://www.no-ip.com/. After that you would have to install apache, mysql, and all of those programs.

imo it would be more cost effective to pay 4-9 bucks a month to have someone else host it for you... otherwise, like the others said, you need dns service, and all the programs that go along with hosting websites

Yeah it is alot more useful to buy hosting and then have them handle it for you although some people prefer to host themselves so that they have more freedom and it's free.
