![]() | Domain competition, registrar?? Hey everyone, This wasn't listed in the FAQ so I figured I'd ask. There's a domain that I'm interested in that expires in January of 2004. I've been reading up some of the threads in this forum and I've found that there are many places I can go to backorder the domain. I had a couple of questions though: 1. Is there a way to find out WHICH registrar the domain is CURRENTLY registered with? 2. Is there a way to find out HOW MUCH competition there is for the domain? Or how many people have placed a backorder on it , from where, etc? I've read on the forums here that Pool.com? is probably the best place but its also more expensive. Thanks! --Haider |

You would have to check www.SnapNames.com To check GoDaddy BO www.GoDaddy.com - just type the name in, make sure it shows the good ext. when you search the name. It will say if a backorder can be placed. I think you would have to sign up at www.NameWinner.com and www.Pool.com to check bids. Yes, Pool is very strong but a price will be paid. |

![]() | Thanks Tippy! I did check at GoDaddy and it gave me the option to place a backorder on the domain for $18. I was just curious to know if there were other people waiting for this name to expire as well. Right now the domain doesn't even have a live site. It just has a page that says the account has been disabled or something. --Haider |

![]() | I don't know how to check that The page says: Service Unavailable The service for this Virtual Website is temporarily unavailable. Please check back again at a later time. If you are the account holder, please contact the Technical Support Department The status on the domain registration shows Active. Also, I didn't notice before but the registrar seems to be BulkRegister.com |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Haider Check to see if there is anybody has a "snap" on it at SnapNames . I'm judging from the posts and advice I have recieved, SnapNames is the leader in the backorder business. I think you were asking if there is one place you can go to check for all backorders. Not that I know of. You will need to check each service individually. Am I correct? |

![]() | Terry: Thanks. I went to the site. Where exactly do I check to see if there are any snaps on the domain? I see where it asks me to register if I want to backorder the domain but I'm curious to know if there are any existing backorders on it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Just type in the domain name. It will take you to a page where you need to enter a "code". Enter the code. The next page will show you two squares. The first denotes whether or not the name is currently registered, the second denotes if anybody has purchased a BackOrder (BO) on it from snapnames. I still don't think that there is one place to go to check all of the backorders from the various services. |

![]() | Terry thanks for the info: I did that and saw 2 boxes as you said. First one had an X in it which denoted it was taken (obviously since I know it's registered) and the second was for backorder and there was no X in it and it allowed me to put a check in there to put a backorder on it. Does snapnames only allow 1 person to put a backorder on a particular domain name? Thanks, Haider |
