To reg a domain it costs $1.95+ (.info certain sites)
Most .com are around $9

Domains only expire if they aren't renewed :P

The payment method accepted depends on which registrar you use.

You need to go to the registrar where you have this domain registered and check your account. You can also get some basic information by going to whois.sc

I gone to the website of my registrat but theres pretty much no way to renew the domain... or even register a new domain for that matter

The 2 menu options are:
Home
Pricing

and Pricing pretty much just says "email us to find out"

You have to be able to "log in" somewhere! You need to get into your account, then you can renew your domain. Which registrar are you using?

Some recommended registrars are GoDaddy.com, domainsite.com, namecheap.com, enom.com and registerly.com. I use a combination of these depending on who has the best deal at the moment. Resellers of domains prefer these five generally to a strange one, because they allow free push and most people have free accounts set up on them.

There are Hundreds ,if not thousands of Domain Resellers
who are NOT that still offer Free Push
and Free Accounts. Some also Don't charge for things like
DNS & EMail Forwarding

But answering original question. If your current reseller/Registrar sucks , swap
now. If they can't be bothered to offer advice on something like pricing and renewal.

maybe i shoulda made a seperate post for this, but is there somewhere i can find out a lot more about domain names, eg im not sure what this Free Push stuff is, or "overture" and things like that?

I think aaaq.com is a wholesaler only. The domain would have been purchased via one of their resellers. You should be able to find out who by contacting them.

Barefoot, sorry if I worded that badly. I'm infamous for improper phrasing sometimes. Yes, other registrars do have free push or accounts and I didn't mean to imply that they were the only five that did. The point was that most domainers that I know have a tendency to be quicker to buy from those five than off brand ones and most commonly have accounts there. The OP asked what registrars were used. Just trying to give him a point in the right direction.

Wildchild: Free push is the ability to be able to transfer to another user on the same registrar for free versus a domain transfer between registrars. Some places don't offer free push like 1and1.com (stay away from them).

Overture refers to a score of how many people searched for that phrase within a given month at Overture.com, a search engine. OVT w/Ext means that if you enter the whole 'something.com (or .net, .whatever)' and it comes up with a number, that is OVT w/Ext. They are usually more sought after (but is not a guarantee of traffic). OVT w/o Ext means that the phrase with out the .com has searches which may or may not translate into traffic. For instance cute kitten pictures has a 200 a day search. cutekittenpictures.com does not. You can find it at: http://inventory.overture.com/d/sear...ry/suggestion/

For more info, read through the forums and the FAQ's and you'll pick it up pretty quick and you can always ask.

i noticed that a lot of domains here are to become expired in september... is there any reason for this? or just a coincidence?

I think once it expires you reg it again for the same FEE. but doing this makes it available to everyone else, if someones watching your domain then youmay loose it. You can renew it befor it expires and some companys charge for this.
