![]() | Long or Short Domain Names? Do you like long or short domain names? When I first bought my somain written-emotions.net I thought it was just the right length but now I just think it's too long.

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/967-long-or-short-domain-names.html With long domains you can reg and target an occupation or phrase very well. Targeted traffic going to a long domain with some type-ins also is much better than non-targeted traffic somehow going to a short and not so good name. Plus with long domains you can register multi-word keyword industry phrases, which are normally long anyway. | ||||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Though RealNames makes some VERY good points, generally speaking the "shorter the better". ![]() xxlauren, knowing Tippy as I do, and reading the posts ... it is my belief that there was no attempt made to specifically disparage your domain name. Overall, hyphens do not help the cause ... and we are discussing "length" here as a general domain name discussion. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=967 The community here at Namepros stands ready to assist all members, young and old, newer or more experienced. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | While long names are good in some areas the winner is the shorter name i believe domains under 12 characters are the best and the shorter they get the better but a domain like my o0p.com is nothing against oops.com ![]() its all in the name the sound, the targetting and the ability for visitors to remember the name so they wont make a typo but really it all depends on what the buyer wants if they want a site about pony riding then ponyriding.com would be good as it targets the visitors but pony.com would still bring those type of visitors anyway |

![]() | I personally think it depends on the name itself, and what it's going to be used for. A personal website might be okay to make it longer, because it's not exactly necessary to remember it if you're just coming in passing. Then it's just about what you want personally. But if it's to be a business domain you want it short and professional, usually a .com. The shorter it is the better as a lot of people have already said because then it's easy to remember and type for any potential customers. So... BOTH! Lol. |

![]() | Laury! <3 Mwah. I like short ones better, I think, they're easier to remember. However, domains with long names that blow me away, they still count too! ^^; Its definantly the style of name that affects my opinion most, if it long and cliché I don't like it as much, but if its long and original, then thumbs up!
