Calling All Dreamers and Wordsmiths!

A two part thread.
Pt I: What made-up domain names are your favorites among those that you have registered? Have seen on the net?
Pt II: A Primer for Made Up Words/domain names. A few definitions that describe some of the processes that we use when we make up our words and terms, (I have drawn upon and paraphrased several online sources so am leaving all of Pt II in quotes) :

Homonym One of two or more words that have the same sound and often the same spelling but differ in meaning, such as bank (embankment) and bank (place where money is kept).

Homophones- words that sound alike but are different in spelling, meaning or origin. ie blew and blue, no and know

Homograph- words spelt in the same way but of different meaning or origins (e.g. pole = piece of wood or metal and pole as in North Pole, as well as words of identical spelling but different pronunciation (e.g. lead noun and lead verb). Distinguished from homonyms by the requirement to be spelt in the same way, whereas homynyms can contain different spellings, ie "which", "witch"/ "maid", "made".

Medial Capitals- name for the now common practice (mostly in commercial branding) of forming a word containing two capital letters e.g. SureStart, WordPad, ShopTalk etc.; mostly commercial, habit of inserting a medial capital letter into the name of a product, a process, etc.: e.g. CinemaScope, InterLink.

LeetSpeek- "leet" derived from elite, is strictly an invention of the internet, and has no "official", dictionary word for the practice. . It includes replacing letters w/ numbers, ie k00l, Numb3rs, 5x1llz, d00dz, 0rz

Nice to know, Related, but less applicable :

Contranym- a word that has two opposing meanings?(though it is still not in sufficiently widespread use to have appeared in our dictionaries). Cleave is the usual example given.

Alliteration-the repetition of initial consonant sounds in neighboring words. ie bite the bullet

Initialisms- e.g. PEEP (Pressure - Elevate - Examine - Pad) form of mnemonic- a prompt composed by rearranging the first letters of the points to be remembered? A mnemonic is the name given to a device (such as a verse) used to assist the memory. The word comes from the Greek mnemonikos 'mindful'.

Onomatopoeia- words which sound like they are e.g. slush, slimey, croak etc, (adjective Onomatopoeic): the formation of names or words from sounds that resemble those associated with the object or action to be named, or those associated with the object or action to be named, or that seem suggestive of its qualities ie atishoo, babble, cuckoo, croak, ping-pong, sizzle'.

Oxymoron: 'a word of Greek origins formed from words meaning sharp and dull meaning "a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction": e.g. a cheerful pessimist, honest lawyer, generous banker, helpful support

Palindromes- words which are the same spelt backwards. Hmm...Haven't thought of any yet. Ahh... bob, tot, mom, dad, hmm..

NEW Additions:(5/31/05)

Coinage-This is the creation of entirely new words - quite unusual given the competition from all the other, perhaps easier ways of creating words. These can be based on similar sounding words - 'Hobbit' was based on rabbit - or change from a brand or product to common usage - Kleenex and Hoover. They can also of course have no roots in anything, such as the scientific terms 'googol' and 'quark', or slang terms

Acronyms- Phrases that are reduced to acronyms often enough become words in their own right and the original phrase is often forgotten. Some are still written as acronyms such as AIDS and VDU, but others are not, radar, yuppy and scuba, for example. Some acronyms become familiar very quickly, such as SARS and WMDs

Clipping- This is the shortening of a longer word, often reducing it to one syllable. Examination becomes exam, laboratory lab. Many examples are very informal or slang, like 'bro' from brother, 'dis' from disrespect and 'maxing' , from maximising.

Reduplicatives- (also see Onomatopoeia) They can also be invented by duplicating a sound, e.g. 'honky-tonk', 'wishy-washy', 'mish-mash' and 'ping-pong'. More recent new words of this kind include 'analysisparalysis' and 'chick-flick'.

Affixation- The use of prefixes and suffixes is one of the most common ways in which new words are created, so common in fact that a speaker will be unsure if a word exists or they have just created it. A key skill for learners developing their vocabulary is knowing how prefixes and suffixes change meaning and form.

I've had some decent success w/ word blends. (just regged WordBlends.com today, hehe) Phishzilla.com and RFIDEA.com sold this year, so those are my favorites, at present.
A few others that I like- some are potentially, commercial, and some, I like just for their own sake, and could have fun w/ someday. Most of these are recent regs:

I love this genre.

A while back, I made a typo, (had a head-lapse), and registered a couple of "gnome" word blends, (gnomed.com was one), instead of the preferred and intended "genome", (for Human Genome/Medical.) (BTW, I quickly went back and covered my tracks and regged a couple of "ge" versions that were avail.)

I researched "gnome" and found allusions to "health" in the Greek root. I decided to keep them around, and during the last few months of keeping track, gnomed style versions are getting more visits than genomed style versions.

When one of these fits, and there's no better way of (figuratively) expressing an idea or product... Whoa! Some definite pitfalls, ie The name never plays outside of Peoria. There are vast number of possibilities and only a finite number of products/services. In some instances, the egos of the ad agency/advertising dept execs who want credit for authorship.(On the otherhand, if the marketing boys like it, the Boss and his board want it...

Yippeee!- (or, so we'll see.)

1 recent name that really turned me on, but has already been gone for awhile was, "ice2o".

I thought of that niche, but, thus far, have been unable to find a word/words to describe a new and unique combination of words that would describe future tech, or something not yet imagined.

I would have to say NameMob.com for me,I was somewhat confussed after reging it.lol..The reason being is that i knew what i wanted to with it,But was it the right name for my development,I spent days pondering over this.I knew i had reged a very unique name,But was it fitting? I then began my development layout,And found the name was excatly what i needed,So i themed it up and developed it.But i must say it did have me scratching my head for several day.lol
