Welcome to NamePros, Phil!
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/87251-how-can-i-sort-out-big.html

If you sign into your account, then do you see the name you bought listed there? If you do, but the previous owner's details still show up in the whois search, then you'll have to change the contact information for that domain in your account. If it's not in your account then it hasn't been pushed/transferred to your account.

You're saying you have to pay to change the contact information on the domain in your account? I've never heard of a registrar charging to change that info. I've searched the FAQ's at 123reg and have found the following. I'm not sure who told you there's a fee to edit it.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=87251

http://www.123reg.com/auto-faq/home....ment%20FAQ#016

By the way, why would both parties have to sign a document when you want to change the contact info on the domain? If 123reg does indeed require a fee and a signature, then they sound like fly-by-nighters. With the larger registrars, it's as simple as 1-2-3 to change the contact whois information.

Best of luck to you!

it does say in your link-
You may not change the registrant info. The registrant is the owner of a domain, and as such, requires more security. In order to change a registrant, you need to go through the Registrant Transfer procedure
I'm pissed off about that he could claim back the domain now even though I've damn paid

So you didn't actually buy the domain? If it's in your account, then you have all of the power to edit all the contact information...
Something's not adding up, although we could all be saying the same thing, just differently...

What has happened (assuming its a .co.uk) - I know because I sold a .co.uk about 8 months ago (and off the back of it I will never buy or sell a .co.uk again!) - anyway... the person you have 'bought' the domain off can transfer the IPS-TAG to you quickly and easily and this would cause it to appear in your account so you can mod the DNS settings etc - however the actual ownership as far as nominet is concerned still belongs to the guy you bought it from until he fills in the stupid form (4 side of A4) and puts his payment in with it then sends it to you for you to sign and send back to nominet, to be honest it is easier to get divorced than transfer a .co.uk domain - nominet are making a right mess of the whole thing (IMHO)... apparently they are going to change it to a web based process but who knows when this will happen...
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=87251

you could always offer to pay the transfer fee and fill the form in for him as long as he signs it, this might help things along.

you could try getting nominet involved but they probably won't talk to you as you are not on their register!

Best of luck

Greetings!

Is this thing resolved?

Anyway, this is another reason why an escrow can help. No money is transferred unless everything is in order.

I hope you have your domain now Phil.

Yes, but you would need to wait for it to go through all the stages of dropping, then depending on the domain, you have a risk of loosing it if someone else has backordered it.

Right Neo have got back to me and have told me to take this to court it would cost me £700? with me being a student thats not in my plans<Surely they can;t just email him saying hes agreed to hand over and needs to sign the form I'm sure he will sign if pushed by other people

Just a quick reply to my other E-mail I've just tryed contacting him and I've been blocked with my email address deleted by hes sister,I don't see why i should pay £700 when I'm trying to make the contact but can't?

If it requests any login details, make sure you check the URL is the site you want to be on first

it would appear that agreement re the paper-work for a co.uk name transfer must be made between the parties prior to payment being made. It seems that in this and other cases listed here that both buyer and seller were probably both innocent re the problems of .co.uk transfer...

How can i sort out this BIG problem

For About 5 weeks I've been trying to get the old owner of my domain to send me the registant changing form so i can send it off and get it changed.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=87251

the first problem i sorted he asked for £4 because i owned him so i paid him via paypal (so i have proof) then it was 1 day before he went on hoilday and i txted him and spoke to him to remind him to send it off he agreed.

Later that night he came on msn messenger and gave me a tracking number for the form (Look below to what i get) anywayz it has now been 4 days and nothing as turned up,I dont have money to take him to court as I'm a student so i'm asking on advice.

"Recorded Signed For™ items are only tracked after the item has been delivered. Depending on whether the item was sent first or second class, this may be a few days after posting. Please try again later."

3 separate threads merged. Why did you start 3 anyway instead of sticking to just the first one?

What country did he sent it from, and where is its destination? How long do your mails usually take anyway? Perhaps 4 days is too short a time to panic.

2 of those days were 'weekend' days, right? Does your mail deliver on Sundays?
You might give it another day or two, and if nothing shows, he still doesn't have proof of delivery as long as your tracking information is correct.
Your best bet might be to keep contacting him... Just keep a level head, as I imagine he'd be even more willing to help you out if you came accross professionally
Best of luck, and let us know what happens,
Allan
