OK, here are the rules:

I'm looking to develop FixedFee. com rather than sell it as I think it has potential.

I'm willing to hand over some NP$ to whoever comes up with the best idea for the domain.

My decision is final as to who get the NP$. Amount will depend on the quality of the idea.

I already thought of setting up a general freelance site but if you can do better, go for it!

Hopefully you will have some fun coming up with an idea that will help me and earn you a few $!

Fixedfee is a banking term and could be used for accounts, investments, loans and margin trading. Fixedfee.com could be somewhat lucrative if you approach the right buyer.

Would be a great name for a one time fee service. Many services offer monthly billing, renewals etc..

You would just need to determine what that service might be.

It's kind of hard to give an example without knowing what you are specifically good at.

Here's one concept:

The idea: A directory of fixed fee services, ranging from fixed fee legal providers, health providers, home repair, web design, computers/large appliances, etc.

The approach: start with a few major cities and contact tradesmen locally. Inform them that the concept is to help people find upfront services without the hassle of paying by the hour or anything like that, but to actually get the job done and get a price before hand. "Tired of getting the runaround when you need something fixed, visit fixedfee.com for a free directory of service providers in your area willing to complete a job for you".

The spin: If you wanted to spin the idea, you could allow for a rating system. Where providers are then rated and given reviews. You would then have to likely switch away from having the contractors/tradesmen paying you fees and start focus more on getting ad revenue from other companies interested in your high traffic site. Or you could charge a monthly membership fee like monster.com to companies/service providers to bid on assignments posted with a fixed rate or range.

Fixed fee auction site. fixed listing fee only, such as $1 regardless of sale amount.

Fixed fee hosting. Once you sign up, your monthly fee is fixed for as long as you maintain the account.

Fixed fee loans (mortgages) closing fee is fixed regardless of loan size.

fixed fee domains - i.e. all domains $50.

An idea that came to mind is a flat rate legal proceedures site. Find a local lawyer just out of school and partner with him/her. Offer $99 divorces, $149 bankruptcies, $49 wills, etc. This could be a great money maker and require no work on your part and very little on the part of the lawyer once established.
