I've made a very stupid newbie selling mistake! Help / advice requested.

Hi, I'm a newbie to selling domain names and I have made a stupid mistake.

I listed some domains on Snapnames for sale using the auction method. I put the minimum offer / reserve amount as $1 thinking that this would generate interest.

The auctions started 29 Dec 2011 and will end 31 Jan 2012. To date I've had 1 offer of $1 on each domain from the same person.

What I need to know is:
(1) Is there any way I can I withdraw my domains from the auction
(2) If I can't withdraw them, is there any way I can get a better selling price for the domains?
(3) Is it possible that ther will be more activity as the auction draws to a close?

I am asking as I feel at least two of the domains I am selling are worth more than $1,

Your advice is much appreciated!!

I have never sold at SN, didn't know that you could put a reserve that low.
If you don't set the reserve high enough then you take a chance. IMO honor the sale and don't look back.
Domain #1 is okay, #2 isn't worth much anyway.
Read the SN terms carefully to explore possible options but don't hold your breath.

you've got 10 days - i'd suggest you promote your lots on domainers forums.
NP also has external auctions section - place your ad and state clearly low reserve and current highest bin.. i believe WeightLossTutor.com can fetch more than $1 from NPers anyway

what are the the other domains?

Hi sdsinc, thanks for replying I really appreciate that.

I will honour the sales if no other bids are reached and put it down to a learning experience!

I realise now that the bidder has made a $1 bid probably hoping no one else will.

In your opinion what would you say domain #1 weightlosstutor.com could reasonably be sold for?

Also, why do you feel aluminiumforsale.com is not worth much as I thought it was the most valuable of them all?

Forgive the questions I just want to understand why so that I know what to look for next time.

4pm, thanks for the constructive advice! Those are good ideas to explore.

If I place the ad in the external sales section as you recommend, would the NP buyer require a Snap Names account in order to buy a domain?

Thanks for taking time to address this.

They would have to outbid the original bidder, at the place of auction.
From what I understand, as soon as that bid was placed you are bound.
Unless there is a clause that says you can get out of it, but I doubt it.

Maybe set a reserve of a higher price something you'd be comfortable letting it go at. Might save you some stress

Fantastic advice as always. I suppose you need to get the balance between setting a reserve too low and setting one so high it scares people off.

Perhaps auction sales are not the best method but maybe that's a discussion for another day...

sure they will need an account with SN to bid/buy but many already have and i dont think its a problem for those who dont - its easy and free to reg one (and probably you only need to have Moniker acc to buy from Snapnames - im not sure thou)

..and in your post you can add direct link to every lot auction page for easy navigation for those who may be interested in bidding - better have them sold at $5 than $1 each because its 400% more

That's good advice 4pm. Regarding adding a link to my auctions - is this allowed in the general discussion threads? If so would I add it in the body of my post or in the signature? Thanks.

its allowed in external auction thread according to the thread rules - they are very short, will take you 2 min to read..

..and as far as i know linking external auctions in your signature is ok too - at least i see them regularly in sigs..
