Question How reliable is Sedo suggested price tool?

I have various domains at Sedo, the free tool that suggests what the domain is worth tells me to price most of them at under $100 but one of the domains stands out and it says it is worth in between $2000 and $3000.

Is Sedo pricing tool any more reliable than Estibot and the like? Just wondering, thanks.

IMO, free price suggestion tools are worth what you pay for them...

The Sedo price tool estimates are not very helpful to me. I find Estibot a bit more realistic.

They're all junk. Let's take Sedo's for example. Just for kicks, I used the Suggestion Tool, picked a few domains where Sedo gave the highest prices. Submitted those domains for auction, with no reserve. All rejected. Which tells me, Sedo doesn't take it's own tool seriously, so neither should you.

I would not use any free pricing tools, you need to follow what similar domains go for and judge based on experience whether your domain is more valuable or not. If insure just list as "make an offer".

MARKET MAKERS

Every major financial market has one. It brings liquidity to the market place. What good is spending $25 to $100 for a domain name appraisal if the party doing the appraising won't buy the domain at or (anywhere) near the appraised valuation? So, if domain appraisers won't step up to buy a domain name at the lower end of their own appraised value, this speaks volumes about the actual value of the domain.

A market maker puts its money where its mouth is and brings instant credibility to the market place. IMHO, every domain appraisal should include a specific dollar amount for which the appraising company would immediately acquire the appraised domain.

Of course, when a market maker has to walk the talk, domain appraisal values will likely begin to plummet - but that's okay because, when that happens, a meaningful, real world benchmark by which domain values can be measured will have emerged instead of the wishful thinking that goes along with a "certified" appraisal certificate that says very little about the underlying value of the domain name.

A market maker changes everything.

Used the same tool to acquire a few .co domains when those were newly available. Price tool suggested 5 figures. Not knowing any better I pulled the trigger and registered them. Now I have three domains I cannot even get reg fee for.

I find intuition, research tools and personal development to be the most useful in determining value.
