Question The NFC & Mobile Tech Discussion and Showcase (Tap / Wallet / Money)

Another trend on the way with tapping phones hitting the masses. Especially with Google Wallet launching and NFC phones becoming the norm. Here are a few of my best. Most have gone. "Tag" is also a key word... Anyone else have any?

Yes, bump was used early on but didn't stick. Tap has been adopted by Google and Apple etc. and seems to have come out in front. I know where my bets are.

Hmmm. That's a lot of domains. Not that you asked for advice, but I'd recommend slowing down and concentrating only on the .com flavor. Otherwise, TAP and TAG are good keywords right now, highly relevant to the mobile growth space.

Hi thanks for the articles.

The problem I see with this field is this: it will happen, but will it just be a few big, trusted players? People like Visa don't need new domain names, let alone aftermarket ones. What related businesses or services would actually exist and want domain names? So to me the social aspect, gaming, and interacting with objects via RFID sound the most interesting.

And to me it is not clear yet which keyword is tops, or whether domainers can make money here.

I agree with Carob. I think its to early to know if "tap" will become a main keyword.

And registering all those .info's is just throwing money out the window in my opinion.

Wave and Swipe are much better words for this and seem to be popular if you look at related phrases in Google

Tap is ok, but when combined with the word phone, does remind me of "tapping your phone" or "phone taps"

There might be numerous words adopted with tech, and that gives numerous companies a shot and getting a nice name, and a domainer a nice chance to make a little $$$

But I still don't know if all these payments will be handled just by a few big players. A while ago I remember seing an item that plugs into an iphone that will swipe cards and take payments - basically a mobile paypoint, great for people who trade outdoors.

I will have to read the links to find out even what this is...

Even so this is huge investment in "taping" domains. I would ask myself, "why do I need this domain name?"

Who are you expecting your buyers to be?

I suppose with the explosive growth of technology and social media right now any of this is possible and likely already old news. However it is way too risky for me.

Have you approached any potential end users yet or is it still too early?
