.com's mostly, maybe a few other extensions for the big names like "sex" (people wondering if sex.edu exists...see you're typing it in now ;-) ).

I've never really tested much of my current traffic to see - But I'm pretty sure a few of my .Info's are getting some somehow .... I only own 1 .net and no .org's ATM - so can't tell anything there ....
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/72465-other-than-com-what-exts-do.html

I do wish there was a way to tell how many type-ins a day are from other Domainers though

Exactly, Mark.
I'm pretty sure that any (Ok, 97% of) type-ins besides .com's are from other domainers.

That's an interesting subject, that's come up before and is hard to define.
I know I get domainer type-ins when the traffic goes up as a name approaches expiry, but using 3LL .org, .info, and .biz names as a constant, there is a wide degree of variance in the numbers that can't be explained by domainers alone.
I have a "z" .biz that outperforms a nice vowel acronym .biz.
On the other hand, in general, there are far more searches for 3 *character* .com and .net names than for 3 *letter* .biz/.info names, which I attribute to domain name hunters.

I'm all ears if anyone can shed more light on this, but don't want to get away from O/P question and may start new thread.

I get 'em on some regional ".ORG's", IMHO. Caveat: I assume they are type-in's because they are not listed in the S/E's, they are not promoted in any way, and they are not linked from anywhere ... and they are in a common form of "localcitystateabbreviation.org" Check your local Chambers of commerce or official City sites, very common for these type domain names, in my view.

All the best!

I get lots of type ins for city names of all extensions.

I get a fair amount for type-ins for these for example:
wapakoneta.org (city in Ohio)
cincinnatioh.biz
cityofcincinnati.org
lucascounty.net
ohiostatebuckeyes.org
warrencountyohio.org
belmontcounty.org
cantonohio.org
pittsburghpa.us
brooklynnewyork.us

.com/.net/.org/.co.uk/.de/.ca and pretty much all other country codes that are popular in the particular country (ie not including extensions like .us, .ws, .cc etc). The traffic that other extensions sometimes get is generally due to typos/confusion/bots etc rather than being due to the popularity of the keyword & extension, eg something like cdcover.cc might get traffic due to cdcovers.cc, but I wouldn't call it natural type in traffic.

Type in traffic is mostly with .com, if just plain traffic i.e typos, all sort of developed extentions will have some traffic domains.

.ORG is especially good for speculative type-ins apart from .COMs.

.INFO is picking up a little.

.BIZ too. But I suspect its from domain speculators or web developers checking things out.

The value of new namespace does not lie in blind, speculative type-ins - but on being able to afford a kickass keyword with the bonus of more specific site meaning.

Navigation is not just about "stumbling" in to a whorehouse with the prettiest girls in a dark alley, its also about coming back to something which means exactly what it says in the address - and nicely (crisp keywords) too.

Look at the case with http://www.southafrica.info
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=72465

A hostage taking terrorist took out the .COM years ago, and would not let it go except for half of South Africa's gold reserve even after the lawyers had a go.

Where there is a will, the URL will find the way.

I would say .com, followed by .org (oldest and most recognized after that), and perhaps some .info and .us domains.
