Personally I dont think its the best thing he could have done, with all his money he could have looked at other ways for the crops to be protected, build a fence for example, I dont think it was anything to do with helping villagers more for his own personal pleasure! As far as handing out GD baseball caps to the villagers while they cut the elephant up......lets be honest, as sick as you might think that to be its genius...All Advertising is Good Advertising

Do I agree with Mr Parsons......no BUT is it going to stop me from buying domains at Godaddy.....No

Thoughts?

Seems to show poor judgement on his part; Making large numbers of animal lovers upset helps him how?

Maybe he's about that age where he's having some trouble with his other gun and needs to prove he's still macho. Did he nick-name his elephant gun "viggy" (short...lol...for viagra)?

Namecheap is doing the $4.99 transfer promotion again in protest of this. They will also donate $1 for every domain transferred in to saving the elephants.

Coupon code is BYEBYEGD. I also added it to my website. Good until end of day 3/31.

Maybe next NameCheap will protest eNom's LegitScript partnership scheme by going independent and offering a ByeByeEnom coupon - as of now, most domains, including transfer-ins, at NameCheap are really held by eNom.

Whats the big deal? These people eat the elephant. They don't hunt for sport.

Yes, the domains are at Enom. You post about this every single time someone mentions Namecheap.

Namecheap and Namecheap's CEO has also expressed displeasure at this Legitscript situation:

Just to update you all on this thread: We actually convinced/demanded that enom to allow 10 days before a pharma domain reported on LegitScript be suspended. This policy is 100% due to us and our disatisfaction with it. Especially the part with domains being suspended without warning. So basically a domain will still resolve for 10 days after a warning and will remain unlocked so that it may be transferred away elsewhere.

This policy started atleast a few weeks ago. To those that always try to make us out as the bad guys here that's definitely not the case. We are always trying to defend domain owners rights whenever we can. I think this new policy does just that in this case.

This won't effect their business. And Parsons doesn't care if it did. Actually...I don't care either that he shot some elephant in Africa. I almost wonder if he made that fake news video for more publicity. I put nothing past him.

I love animals, and can still keep a sense of humor:

PETA =
People

Tasty
Animals :P

This won't effect their business...

PETA claims to have more than 2 million members and supporters.

Meet the new Godaddy spokesman:

Quite honestly I don't know what to think about this...is bob trying to sabotage his company? I'm a 100% animal lover on almost every level and frankly will be moving all my names away from his service. I don't agree with it and I don't condone the sport or lack of that is in this recent situation. I love namecheap so the move will be nothing short of painless in my eyes.

I really would like to see him publicly respond to this matter and perhaps explain a bit more in detail what went down. I have not watched the video nor will I watch the video as I'm sure it will make me sick to my stomach. I think he far underestimated the amount of animal lovers that are paying customers and this could cost him dearly.

Go Namecheap! I love the idea of contributing a portion of the proceeds to the cause!

It's good that Namechap is making a stand and trying to win customers at the same time. I wouldn't switch to them from GoDaddy because of their lack of action against spammers.

Strange that Bob thought this was a good idea. He claims to have 'support of the local villagers', but he should have known many of his customers could object strongly.

 Not the best thing to do in this day and age considering the people employed by godaddy and how this could affect their jobs. Seems to be arrogance on this behalf and on many levels too.

:O Looks like some domain investors have already regged

http://BobParsonsElephantKiller.com

and

http://Bob-Parsons-Elephant-Killer.com

regarding Bob's antics in Zimbabwe, will be interesting if Bob would be forced to resign/sell interests as more people are pulling their domains from GoDaddy INC threatening jobs/investors and the like.

Heh, considering those customers are the ones paying rather than those local villagers. But...whatever works for him.

I've always considered Bob to be a bit of an idiot... No offense to him or any of his lovers. This is testament to that fact. He's got dollars but no cents(sense).

Killing a giant amazing animal just because it's eating food that local villagers have planted isn't exactly a decent excuse to kill an elephant.

I'm sure something else could have been done with all his money and 'wisdom'. I'm sure this was just for his own pleasure.

I said it on a different forum, that I cannot in good conscious remain with godaddy. Having said that, the thing is, I just don't have the money to switch just now. And it's bothering me!

Another thing that I said, and will continue to say - I predict godaddy will be defunct by end of summer.

...threatening jobs/investors and the like.

GD is a privately held company, perhaps you already know this.
I have no idea what % Bob owns, or how many investors, but there are not any traditional stockholders to worry about.

Still, poor judgement on his part, IMO.

Seems to be arrogance on this behalf and on many levels too.
Bob might be arrogant, I agree.

Namecheap's reaction is admirable. Even if they don't get too many transfers and if they don't donate too much, still the fact they they voiced their opinions is valuable. These reactions create awareness to the issue. People talk and write about these things on other sites.

I wish namepros would show any reaction to any problem in this industry. I get upset with namepros admins for being so shy and political.

Because it needs to be said!
