![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You can't sign up for free.. you have to either buy a domain or hosting, then you become a member.. be warned, even tho I have over 40 domains there, their interface is awkward and slow and they charge for pushes from one account to another.. the price is good but there are easier to use registrars! ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/67897-1and1-site.html

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ya, I have some domains at 1 and 1, and it is such a pain. Their control panel is awful, and the transfer process is just as bad, not to mention no free pushes. Spend the extra $2, and go with a different register, who's interface, and user accesibility is much better. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'll also put in that 1&1 is not good to register domain names with unless your sole purpose is to use a domain to develop. And even that, I'd probably still stay clear. I have about 40 there myself and I am pretty much stuck with them. Including all the "free" .info ones. |

| Although initially impressed w/ them, I agree w/ other posts- the interface is very user unfriendly and makes it time consuming to accomplish even some of the simplist of tasks. Example: There is no way to make bulk name server changes or to set your own preference for a default name server. Each name has to be individually changed from their name server, (default, of course), w/ this sequence:1) click- on name, 2)click-on use own name servers, 3)enter NS1 click- 4)enter NS2 click- 5)click confirm info, 6)click- approve,7) confirmation pg opens, 8) click return to portfolio, click on next name and go through the sequence again. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=67897 I emailed them about this and they basically agreed that, yes, bulk nameserver changes and buld changes in the lock status of names could not be made using their interface. Well, gee thanks. I guess I just won't transfer or purchase anymore names from you, either. Another company that has designed a system to create hurdles for the customer that wishes to manage his names in a way that is contrary to the companies agenda.
