Weird @ Namecheap

I sold a name on EBAY that was due to expire today. Last night, I received payment from the buyer & went to transfer the name to his account. Only, the name wasn't in my account anymore. The only thing I could figure out to try was to renew the name via the e-mail link that NameCheap sent me earlier. It worked, because it updated the whois info, but the name still did not appear in my account.
I e-mailed NameCheap support & they replied back & apologized for the inconvenience and restored the name to me. Meanwhile, I have paid for the renewal and now the buyer has to keep the name at Namecheap rather than being able to transfer the name & then renew it at his registrar of choice.
Did I miss something ~ do registrars commonly remove names from accounts before they are set to expire? ( it was about 5 hrs. before expiration) Maybe there's a large time difference between Namecheap & PST that actually caused the name to expire?
Let me know if you have any ideas.

Thanks,
Scott

Once you renew a name you have a 60 day wait before transferring out..

Yup indeed. Though domain expired, you will still have lots of time to renew it and it should be in your account. I renewed a few domains in enom just recently that expired for like 2 weeks. Check it out with namecheap.

Hello Yandig,

You have 30 days renew your domain with us after it expires. Once it has expired it is removed from your normal domain list and is moved under the "Re-activate" tab/list which is also located under "manage domains" in your account. If you need more help locating this let me know and I will be more than happy to guide you further.
