How many searches must it take?

I am just wondering, obviously the more searches on a keyword in a country is better, but what is the absolute minimum you would accept to go after a domain?

Reason why I ask is that there are quite a few tasty keywords floating around out there with 500-1000 searches and though that may be okay by my standards, not really sure if 10k+ is the standard by necessity of everyone else lol

Also, wondering if you factor in the population of a country too and its internet capable populace?

Obviously if 1000 people search for a term on an island that only has 1000 people on it that is good, but is 1000 searches still good when there are 1,000,000,000?

Good question. I'd like to hear what some of the veterans have to say. Generally when I register ccTLDs, I won't register a keyword unless it has at least several thousand exact searches.

One thing to keep in mind though is the industry. Just because something isn't heavily searched doesn't mean it isn't valuable. A low-volume domain can still be worth something in a high sales price niche.

It depends on the keyword, niche, and extension. Obviously .COM has the lowest bar. There are keywords in .COM that I might buy with 300 - 800 exact searches per month.

It depends on the niche. Some low search keywords are still in high demand in fields like finance, medicine, legal, etc.

Obviously with secondary extensions the bar is going to be much higher.

I multiply the epc$ X the exact searches. Some keywords may not get a lot of traffic but the traffic may be worth more. My new minimum figure is 50K using this simple equation.
