Massive Godaddy error (10$)500 INR became 500$

Just now i was at godaddy and every Price in there was showing in Indian Currency
so the minimum raise on two domains were 475 Rupees
so i just entered 500 Rupees which is equal to 10$
and i was just shocked when it came as 500$ raise

500$ X 2 =1000$ for just some domains that i would hardly buy for 50$ each
I have emailed the godaddy team within seconds...
and i cant even call them now as its night and i dont have ISD on my phone
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/668871-massive-godaddy-error-10-500-inr.html

what do i do
I have some of my offline business sites on my account
and i m in no condition to pay 1000$ for those names

please suggest :'(

-The buyer is my facebook friend
so i have also messaged him pleading not to accept the offer and told him that i have already contacted the godaddy team...
really too much sad

It sounds like you bought a "premium listing" name. This is a name owned and listed with godaddy as a premium name. When you run your search it will say "available" but there is a price next to it. You must have missed that. Send you account rep an email right away ... and explain that you feel you were deceived by the premium listing (if that is the case) and did not understand the price. They should work with you.

Stay away from Godaddy. They think domains in your account is a service they provide (like hosting service) and they can cancel the service anytime they like. This means they will seize all your domains if there is any excuse for them to do so. This is written in their terms of service.

Make another godaddy account asap and store your 80 domains there for now until cleared up an then delete all billing info on you old account so nothing is stored on account for them to charge.

After, call them and tell them of this mistake!
You must act fast bro, I wish the best.

the seller had offered me those 2 name for 700$ outside to which i had already said no ie just 2 days back.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=668871
he replied saying that he got the best offer and he couldn't say no and thaz why he accepted it. he knew there was no way i would have been able to pay it n now says that i have to deal with godaddy n own it or get banned

Hope godaddy helps me in this...

Every currency was Clearly shown in INR... there was no sign of USD's
the last offer, the minimum offer, the buyers bin, everything was in INR....
so how is it possible that only the 500 that i entered became dollars

i dont know what i would be doing if i loose all those domains..
around 4 domains (offline business) were owened by someone else before who asked 500$ each for them..
now if i loose them then it would be a end of domaining for me..

thanks BD for the advise.. - helps a lot
I had emaild godaddy within 3 minutes after the refresh...
I guess ill transfer all my names to my friends account

I think the worst they will do is ban you from the auctions. I don't think they will grab your domains registered with them.

The worst thing that will happen is you'll be barred from GD Auctions, nothing should change with regards to your existing domain registrations.

contact customer support and explain what happened clearly, hope they will realize it. pushing all domains to another godaddy account wont help, If they need to ban they can do that to any godaddy account right.

Have you read the T&C of any other provider?
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=668871

Dynadot, Name have the same. Moniker adds a few caveats but is the same. Whether you like it or not, they are providing you a service. To paraphrase Moniker.

"...provides services relating to internet domain names including but not limited to Domain Name Registration, "

I'm not sure what GoDaddy did to you but the Terms and Conditions are fairly common.

Godaddy is the most annoying registrar. They don't respect your property rights. Domains are property. Their terms and conditions don't matter. They are all incorrect.

Cancelling a domain registration service does not equal to they taking over your domain. It means they don't want to provide a registration service for your domain. It means they should tell you to move your domain elsewhere. It does not mean they will take over and sell it.

As far as I know Moniker has never seized a customers domain. If you ask moniker what it means to cancel the registration service they would tell you that it means you would be given time to transfer out your domain.

Godaddy will seize all your domains if there is a problem with a single domain in your account. This is how they see the issue. They have seized domains before. They took over a customers domain and sold it in auction. That domain was familyalbum.com. There are many articles on the internet.

Godaddy is the most untrustworthy registrar. Your domains are not safe at Godaddy. Just because you didn't have problem sop far does not mean you won't have in the future.

The only reason they are not seizing domains these days is because it creates too much bad publicity. But if there is an excuse that would make them act correctly in the public eye, they don't have a problem seizing your domains. This is what Godaddy does.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=668871

Godaddy is the only registrar who will lock your domain if there is a content on your website they are not happy with.

You can never know what might go wrong. Maybe you will send a mass email and they will say it was spam. Maybe you will have a credit card payment problem. Maybe you will have a content problem. It doesn't matter. You risk losing your domain.

Here are some Godaddy stories:
http://nodaddy.com/#horror

What I don't like about Godaddy:
1. They don't see domains as property that you own although this is how most other registrars see it
2. They trick and charge clueless newbies for domain parking
3. They grab customer domains and sell it on auction
4. When you make a paypal payment they create a recurring payment inside your paypal account giving them access to all your money. They don't allow one off paypal payments.
5. If there is a problem with your domain they charge you a fee to deal with the problem. For instance if somebody claims who send spam they can charge you $199 processing fee and lock your domain until you pay.
6. They lock your domain for 60 days to transfer out if you update your contact details.

Thanks a lot bro...
it really helped...

I had a word with the customer care and it was a great relief to do so..
the auction team is currently reviewing the incident and hopefully the bid should get reversed.

I have already pushed my domains to a friend who has bought some of them off and hopefully all should go well.

still worried and sitting with crossed fingers
