Bido.com closing

Just saw a tweet on Twitter that BIDO is closing on May 5th. Sorry to hear. Best of luck to Sahar et al.

Yes, I saw that too, wonder if it's real or their account got hacked!.

I sold a domain there last week, am waiting for the payment from the buyer...crap, will have to try and sell the domain again if it's true!

The problem was basically the 1 domain a day model was not sustainable, and then when the floodgates opened for lower quality domains many users could not be bothered using it. If I wanted to weed through that much crap I would use eBay.

I have auction for tomorrow, with several prebids already. If prebids are above BidoPrice i would sell, but not sure what will happen now

You're right in that manner, lately I've been seeing so many lower quality domains being offered for sale....they only just increased their min. bid price from $28 to $38 last week, just seems like something drastic must have happened for them to close (unless the site has been hacked)

I don't see why they would close the site down. It gets very good traffic and is very nicely developed.
Shame to see it go but I never use it anymore anyway. Goodluck to the owner in his next ventures!

I would guess a hack? Seems like too much time and money has been invested for them to simply shut down 1 days notice. Havent recieved any email confrmation either.

I am going to blame ME for them shutting down....LOL

Yes, I pushed two domains to auction yesterday!
First time ever I went there and did that.

Now they are shutting down.

Just to avoid doing business with me....hahahahahahha

I know of someone that called their office and a staff member has apparently confirmed the closing of Bido.

Sorry to hear this. There were quite a few good names on there too. You had to weed thru the junk to find them.

seems very strange to simply shut down operations on a whim like that without any given notice... obvously, there's a story of some kind.

As someone who tries to make things happen and build and develop i am very sorry for them - the amount of work it took for them to get that far was astronomical... it's a shame to see that happen to any striving web site and business trying to do something innovative and different.

The model was flawed, but not flawed enough to completely abandon - some work here n there, and a few changes to the philosophy could have helped.

With any luck for them, they just got an offer they couldn't refuse and HAD to sell - perhaps more details like this will follow... hope so for their sake.

I'm kind of shocked that it simply shuts down tomorrow.. will be waiting to here what's up with the Bido Team. Try not to speculate too early.. just hope all is well with Sahar and Jarred, they are class acts IMO and ill be interested where each of their focus turns next.

This is bad. I just started using it. Really weird closing at such short notice. Maybe they could just have added some filtering process for the names. Or have account managers that filtered them. Ya they must've gotten a good offer hopefully...
