That domain makes me think of different groups of domain sellers (ie- groups) that have a central place to organize to discuss purchasing domain names.

To me, it almost sounds like an advertising forum, rather than a domain name site. Name (as in getting a Name in business), Groups as in forums.

We can stretch the imagination a bit, but namegroups.com seems to be an extended act of artificially trying to fit a conceived name into something meaningful that doesn't flow with any natural motivators or needs. If you will develop the name, okay, sounds nurturable. If not, good luck!

However, I am not too sure I want to sell it just yet. I only started this thread as a conversation starter, you know, just something to ponder. that is why I did not post this thread in the "appraisal" section.

Not to hijak my own thread, but did you ever consider that if you put an Amazon affiliate script on ShoppingCenter.net that it may be worth more and also open it up to new markets that normally have no intention on bidding on such a URL with no content? Just a thought. Simple little things like this can increase the perceived value if not the actual value of your domain.

I am surprised that that URL was even available. Sure, it's a .NET and not a .COM but still not bad. It is a common compound word.

Difficult without a deeper brainstorming, but here is a quick shot:
As a domaineer I would set up a DN auction site specialized in selling/offering extension combos or theme packages.
The other possibility would be a forum, but there are may out there.

To be honest, the first thing that popped into my mind was domain name related- ie forums, link farm, or something like that.
However, considering that to be too simple of an answer, my best guess is something geneological or groups composed of people w/ same 1st names- sort of a novelty concept that would only maybe work for people who had odd or unusual 1st names. Now let's go see.

Same domains several extensions (e.g domain.com + net + org etc....)

Theme packages:
Different domains same target market (e.g. webmasterpanel.com + webmastertool.com + webmastertips.net, webmasterforum.org, etc .....)

This is the URL generated if you use the fabulous.com domain parking service and their DNS settings. It gererates one or more popups uppon your choice.
This enables me to have multiple promotion of my other service when someone visits the domain.
This URL ist just a popup that was generated while visiting the shoppingcenter.net site (for sale at Ebay).
Helps maximizing traffic returns.
(You have to use it wisely for not annoying your visitors)
