![]() | Are domain hacks being read as one word? Might they be in the future? I've one I kinda want to get, it's one word and I can think of a few ways I could maybe present it as a site or even build into a career. Searching for the word on Google shows 4,020,000 results. Stats on the keyword: Activity (Estimated): 2,562,301 web-wide search engine queries per day Google = 1,481,813 Yahoo Index = 679,164 MSN = 401,324 Thanks! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | No, they won't. This is a large part of the reason domain "hacks" are just so beyond stupid- they have no search engine advantage. pla.net isn't by the search engines as "planet". It's read as "pla" and will always be read as "pla". Same goes for hacks of all other types. Hacks that have gone on to succeed (del.icio.us, for example) have done so because of their development properties not because of people searching for the keyword 'hacked' into their name. The domains themselves were still worthless and I'm certain that in the case of a few of them that have succeeded, if they had used a conventional name, they would've been bigger than they are today. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/644030-domain-hacks-being-read-one-word.html Hacks are the ultimate in 'domainers domains'. No one else gives a rats ass about them. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | What he (Dongsman) said... though there are exceptions to the rule. For example, the word GURL is a hack for GIRL but when Gurl is put in Bing it gives the same results as for Girl. Wikipedia as well. So the exception is... if the hack word becomes a popular slang word it will (often) be read as The word itself.... and a domain hack using that word will benefit. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | * When .me first came out, Google was including the TLD in their search results, but I do believe that they have since adjusted their algorithm. *
