The effectiveness selling domains at NamePros

Firstly let me say that I thoroughly enjoy being a member and Namepros and the discussions are very stimulating in most cases. In my short time here I have tried to sell a few domains through Namepros and, while a lot of interest gets generated, you usually get less than what a domain is really worth.

For example I got offered $50 for two domains I owned, but after putting up just one ad outside of the forums, I got double that amount. I just want tp hear your oppinions on how effective you think selling a domain at Namepos is. I see it as a great place to get some bargain prices but not worth the effort of trying to sell it.

What do you think?

I think NamePros is a great place to sell your names. Of course you can't expect to get paid the end user value, because those types of names have to be placed on GreatDomains or Sedo.com and then wait many years before they're sold. Aside from those places, forums are wonderful places to sell names for mid value and of all the forums that I've seen, NamePros is a wonderful one for selling names.

It was hard for me to understand at first, but this is NamePROS- for professionals. We are mostly wholesalers and developers (or want to be), not endusers.
It's just the difference between wholesale/retail and is not about being cheap or trying to take advantage.
For what it's worth, (and it may not be worth much at the moment) I have had domain names appraise on this forum for $XX, yet to have Great Domains list the same name for $20K. Go Figure!
For me, the balance here helps me keep my head, and I have learned not to get excited about a name just because it sounds good.
On the otherhand, I have had a Domain Pro (experienced) sell me a name for less than $10 that I thought was a steal.

Good Luck!
Thanks all NamePro-ers, for making this a great site!

In the end, a domain is only worth what someone will pay for it..

Me, I don't think I'd expect to get top dollar for a domain here as it's largely a wholesale market...

Anyhow, overall this is a good place to sell to a middleman who thinks they might be able to better market/promote/benefit from a domain than you think you can. In other words, we aren't end users, we seek end users. So anything we buy here, we buy thinking we can turn it for a profit to a demographic or market that you can't reach.

OR

I think I might someday develop the site (Yes, I buy tons of those, probably end up developing 1 out of 20 :-( ).
