Valuate.com limiting searches after begging that we promote it

I enjoyed using the Valuate.com tool. Then one day a few weeks ago I was searching some names and there is an urgent plea from Francois to "promote his site and you have to do something from me so I can provide this tool for you". Not a problem, I enjoyed using the tool so I put several links on my blog, banners on my blog and even put a banner on my new blog. I even Tweeted it for whatever that is worth.

Then comes the Estibot 2.0 release and Francois' tye in with Estibot and I knew changes were coming with Valuate. The funny thing is even up to yesterday I received a message on Valuate that said that once I log in I can search up to 500 names a day. OK, sounds good.

Well today I search roughly 50 names and I get this notice that I have a max of 50 names to search. I can search more if I upgrade at Estibot.

I don't expect something but I do expect a warning that this is going to happen. (especially since I gave up advertising space on my blog for his site). But this type of knee jerk reaction is typical from Francois. From the threats to get people to promote Valuate (which if you remember wouldn't even let you search until you fulfilled his request). Anyone remember when he started charging for Domaining.com without notice. You don't? Well refresh your memory.

It's his business and he can do it how he pleases. But it is his bad business practices. It would have been alright to phase it out also but Francois does not do subtle.

Ok, rant over.

Yes, I'm a little disappointed with this change as well, but it was a free tool and I advertised it on my blog too to help him promote it, with this change, out goes his banner and free ads, and I suppose I'll just have to work with my daily allocations to value my domains!.

This seems to be Francois' modus operandi, to make changes without announcing them in advance, which is why I switched to NameBee (after months of being unable to access Domaining.com).

But it's his business, and he can do whatever he wants, I suppose.

I agree that it is his business and he can do whatever he likes with it but a little notice would have been nice.

run some of the gold mine domains thru, like blog and mp3, and check the discrepancy. TM names are usually high valued, which is bad for newbies. i agree-not worth the effort, unless you really need that extra push to try to market a tough domain to sell (est value is....). i dont worry about the free est anymore-adwords tool is a much better indicator of value imo

Just use Estibot. Valuate is run off Estibot, so why not use the source.

If you are listing domains on BargainDomains or any other of Francois site, then you can use Valuate as it makes listing domains a little bit easier.
