I personally own 10-15 acronyms with a nearby city in mind. Hoping to develop them someday, and will probably never sell them, unless there are X,XXX figures being offered.

I have my hometown.org, which is good enough for me.
The owner of the com is a bit delusional with his prices, but he's been getting real lately on some of his other names... I can envision myself eventually owning that, too.

---------- Post added at 07:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:46 PM ----------

What are city or town related names worth? Are they worth more than people think and how do you monetarize them?

A few. I am trying to brand a cctld to the abbreviation of my hometown Traverse City, Michigan. I registered WOW.tc for a promotional campaign with the changing times and much needed facelift. Our economy relies heavily on tourism and what better way to promote a town than with a short stand out domain name like WOW.tc

Checked to see who owns my hometown .com and it looks like it made it to the enduser already with Charter Communications cable giant being the owner. Looks like they invest in other ones to as I do more research. Wished there was a chance they would sell but I may have to wait and see if they ever have need to sell....like bankpuptcy maybe. They did one time but the owner used his own money to re-invest and keep going. Not sure how that works. Well...it looks as if every other extention is taken as well, so no luck there.
