1and1 Account Transfers: Easy?

Wondering what people have to say about 1and1's new domain account transfer system... They apparently treat it as an external transfer now; it costs $5.99/transfer, but it's all built into their system which helps to avoid the faxed and signed form.

http://faq.1and1.com/domains/moving_...nother_/4.html

Check out the above link for the new system.

I've got a domain I'd give away if someone wanted to help test the system and pay the $5.99 for the transfer. If you're interested, PM me. They always seem to have really nice deals on domains and the panel isn't all that bad.

I don't know as this was "new" as it's been in place ever since I've been at 1and1.. my understanding of this was it allows for internal pushes from one account or package to another OR transfers from one regstrar TO 1and1... no "free" internal pushes in other words (which sucks!)... I don't know that they charge to transfer AWAY from 1and1 but it wouldn't surprise me!

Personally, I think the 1and1 interface is one of the worst I've encountered!

Wondering if you can only do 1 at a time .... 5.99 Each ?

It appears to just be a regular transfer request ... Also wondering if it adds a Year to reg time ?????? .....

Anyone else ? - lol

It doesn't say it adds a year but $5.99 coincidentally is the same amount as their domain reg fee.

My suggestion:

Stay away from 1and1 period.

Horrible customer support.

I have a number of domains there.. the price is good, but I agree, customer support and the interface are both terrible!

The experiment was a success-

Hi,

We just transferred a domain from one account to anouther through 1and1...it took less than 4 hours for the transaction to be complete.

The interface is clunky, but the price is right.

Best regards,

Andrew

Account or registrar? Does that mean it costs $5.99 for a "push" to a buyer?

I think it qualified as a "push", although I see no charge for it on my account as of yet.
the whois has been updated- it did not add a year

Well, I wouldn't get too happy about not seeing a charge as yet.. I have had 1and1 charges show up 30 days later...

And if there is a charge of $5.99 for an internal account to account push, that's outrageous.. especially without adding a year to the reg.
