I have some questions regarding a Japanese name I just bought and really need input from a Japanese domainer. There must be one here on Namepro's..here it goes...
Japanese Overture Tool http://inventory.overture.com/d/sear...estion/?mkt=jp
I often do a search simply for ".com" on the various countries Overture tools just to see what the most popular sites are in the country. If you search ".com" here on the Japanese OVT,the top result is a Japanese character domain:
価格.com
It has over 700,000 Japan OVT with extension and means "Price.com".It even shows a 177 with extension on the USA Overture.
And it is not registered--and
can never be registered in .COM or NET Why? Because of something called character blocking..A rare occurence that happens when a Chinese or Japanese domain that looks similar is already registered in a particular extension.Apparently a domain similar in code to
価格.com has been previously registered in .COM and .NET.Until today, and because of blocking, the only extension the domain existed in is .JP.
My question is,do any Japanese domainers know or know how to find out what domain is blocking the registration of the .COM and .NET versions of
価格?
I'm not even entirely sure what the blocking is based on..it could be the actual look of the character,or perhaps another symbol meaning "Price",or perhaps the "xn--_______" codes given to the two different IDN's are very similar.I'm just not sure.
I was recently able to register
価格.tv before someone else registered whatever domain would have "blocked" it.I assume the reverse is true and by owning it I am now blocking something else from being registered.I have no idea how
.TV is perceived in Japan..that is something else I would like info on..
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/60635-any-japanese-domainers-here-have-few.html
Because of the COM/NET issues, the fact it means "Price" ,and has some of the most insane OVT numbers I've ever seen,I just couldn't resist registering it.
Besides .JP, .TV and .CC are the only other extensions in which it could potentially be allowed (or at least desired...no one wants a Japanese name in a .PL or whatever extension)
And Finally, since it's Japanese,it makes little sense for me to keep it on my DomainHop parking page. There **MUST** be a parking service out there providing Japanese content for the landing pages..
OK,I think thats all my questions for now.I hope someone out there can help me out, thanks!
