Help! How to directly buy domains from owners?

Recently i attempted to buy domains from the owners by emailing them.
The most funny experience was when i asked the owner of las-vegas.net to sell me his domain for $100
The guy actually wrote, "haha" are you kidding? the last offer was 50k!!

so do you guys include price in your emails when you ask the owners whether they want to sell their names or not?
or how do you do this?

thanks,
conan p.

if you're going to lowball by that much then you should include it early on to establish that there's no way this deal is going to go through.

I do this from time to time. I ususally establish my intentions early on (minor development) and inquire as to their intentions. If they were no longer using, would they be interested in selling it? Then I make a low, but reasonable sounding offer. I also make sure the domain I am trying to buy isnt a domain a hundred other domainers have inquired on. Thats just silly.

There are quite a few domains that can be resold, that were never contacted by other domainers. =)
