I am seeing some generic LNL .coms being listed for sale in the high $xx's -low $xxx's so ultimately, there might be some potential w/ other exts.
Personally, I think the mixedLN 3character names that signify a meaning have the most immediate potential, and it is hard to find L4L names that create a meaning.
When I have done Google searches for this type of name, the results usually have shown file names, programming language, hardware parts and other items w/ very specific nomenclature.

If you are looking for names that are currently over regfee, these are not them. If you have alot of depth in your porfolio and are willing to wait a few years...? Of course, f4m and other similar names could be branded, but I think FM1, 1FM, 2FM, or 4FM would offer more potential, because of radio band connection.
FM1.biz
2FM.biz
4FM.biz
4FM.us
Are avail.

Yes they certainly do seem to be picking up. I have a bunch of 3 char. parked at Sedo and have accepted offers in the last 2 weeks ranging from $150 - $600. I should note the offers are mainly coming in for LLN.

That's about like simply asking what a acre of property is worth. Just an acre of property in a Louisiana swamp has different value than an acre in Manhattan. The individual letters, numbers have value in themselves, and can change depending on what they are mixed with. However, in general with exceptions, I'd say the ranking would be something like this:
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/59464-what-are-3-chars-worth.html

1. LLL
2. NNN
3. LNN, NNL
4. LLN
5. NLL, NNL
6. L-L
7. N-N
8. LNL
9. NLN
10. N-L, L-N

In my opinion, the higher numbers on the above list are pretty speculative in .com and probably useless in other TLD's. However, meaningful combos can have very different effects.
