Question TOP SPOT- Google, Yahoo, & MSN

I wanted to get into domaining a few years back. I reg'd too many names and didn't have a plan. I actually somewhat developed one. I started PriceReducedHomes.com but I didn't do much with it. I recently noticed that I have the top search spot with "price reduced homes" on the 3 big search engines. (I think this site could be like justlisted.com with today's market.) I have talked with a few sites about becoming an affiliate but I really don't know much about that either. Does anyone have any helpful advice/insight?

Do you plan to fully develop it as a site?

Hello Sam and welcome to the life of a domainer.

Unfornately, there is a lot of misinformation floating around in the domaining industry. Please.... before you make any further mistakes, I suggest that you align yourself with other successful industry experts, read their blogs.... listen to their podcast... and this will definately reduce 'the learning curve'.

Suggested readings:

ElliotsBlog.com
RickLatona.com
SevenMile.com

I've summarized a lot of their experience on my personal blog 'Experts.Clamoring.info'

Wishing you much success,

While the listed blogs are well worth reading, the authors are all old-time domainers. Some concepts are eternal, but you cannot get very far following what worked eight years ago. Namepros can give you newer ideas, but you really need to develop innovations yourself.

As for your question regarding PriceReducedHomes.com - You could add some photos and general information helpful to home buyers. Pages on what to look for in a neighborhood, wood vs brick construction, common problems with new homes and with older homes, home pricing, and many more topics could bring in more visitors. To really succeed you would need to have information unavailable or poorly available online elsewhere.

Im a part-time realtor and I can get 25% on referrals BUT it takes a LOT of legwork. (LOTS of false leads and "cold calling" realtors with leads.) A few years back JustListed.com took off because the market was hot and people wanted to find new "just listed" homes. Now people are looking for deals (foreclosures and price reduced homes).
Ive talked to a few sites about becoming an affiliate. I think that Ill probably give that a shot. Ive been reading posts for quite awhile now. I wish that I had 20 minutes with some of you to just ask questions. I read on a post that someone missed out on DenverMLS.net. (How would a non real-estate person make money on a site like that?)

The power of GEO names.

Basically, DenverMLS.net would be considered a (GEO domain) because of the geographic term 'Denver'.

In this instance, the keyword phrase 'denver mls' (multiple listing service) yields 2,400-3,600 natural searches per month; with an estimated advertising costs of about $4.07 per click.

Probably, whoever picked up this domain will resale to an advertiser for a decent profit margin. (would have been worth more if it was a .COM extension)

Comparable Sale:
ChicagoMLS*com sold for 5,650 on SEDO / June 2009.

Here are some more tools to use in determining valuable keyword domains.

1. Google keyword tool - (type in a keyword, get the estimated keyword traffic for that term)

2. dnsaleprice.com (the source for domain sales history and comparable sales)

Hope this helps,
LexisDomains.com
