| WTF! Bad AUTH Codes? I finished transferring close to 100 domains today- mostly .info, .biz and .us all requiring AUTH codes. This is a very tedious process w/ Godaddy, (who I am transferring away from), where I need to 1) click on each name, one at a time, 2) click to request the AUTH code, 3)Click to have the code emailed. Than each email needs to be opened individually and the info given to the new registrar. It didn't help that the new registrar's site had a glitch and botched my transfer twice, but now, I return to my computer and have a stack of emails telling me that the attempt failed on all of the names! RE:Response from registry: -------------------------------------------------------------- Canceled - Invalid authorization password I double checked the AUTH codes and they are what was sent to me by GoDaddy. I've just about f~~~ing have had it! It's taken me over three weeks, over a dozen emails, and 2 failed faxes to try to get a single name that I sold, transferred over to a customers NetSol account through their fax only system, and after a multitude of previous problems, I now learn that NetSol has been having fax problems! The name still hasn't been transfered. I spent the better part of the afternoon trying to make 100 transfers to a new registrar, and now I get to spend the evening redoing this and hoping that it works this time. Other than recieving our online payments, is every system in the domain name world f-cked up! %#*@!~!! F-CK!

![]() ![]() ![]() | I empathise with your plight, la. Just transferring one domain from a clueless registrar using authorization codes can be a royal pain sometimes, let alone 100. Your ultimate option is to contact the registry like Neulevel/Neustar/PIR/Afilias and complain.

| Well, I've wasted hours and hours due to OP's problems already, why not waste some more writing the Registry's? I'm so PO'd at the moment, I have the fuel to really throw a few good flames out there- not that I expect any clear answer or assignment of responsibility from doing so. |

| I'm at the point of chucking most of my portfolio- selling off or letting 'em drop- cherry picking 50 or so of the better ones and then go about smelling the roses a little more often. Domainers angst is setting in. But, first my anger w/ the f-cked up systems and infrastructures that I have had to interface w/, needs to drain out a bit. |

![]() | I had similiar issues moving names out of register.com and namescout. It took multiple tries to get the auth codes right. In each case the losing registrar would lie and say it is right. After I complained to more senior level people did they fix it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Just hearing the words "authorization codes" gives me the willies ... I cannot imagine attempting 100 of them (and all at once) or what you must be experiencing right now, Grill! ![]() ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/59212-wtf-bad-auth-codes.html My advice ... take the weekend off from anything to do with "authorization codes" ... enjoy some family time and eggnog ... and then begin to tackle 'em 10 or so at a time beginning next week, IMHO. Riceman makes a good point, as well ... try to get one of the more Senior types in your corner and express clearly what it is you're trying to accomplish (and that others are watching to ensure the process is smooth for you - don't be afraid to name both Registrars -and- names here in this space). IMHO, this is important domainer info and should be shared. Please do keep us posted and all the best! ![]() -Jeff

| Cool, Jeff. I think I have just been through, to borrow a surfing metaphor, a big sh~twave recently. I've been having multiple strings of unbelievable circumstances converging on me, all at once. Different companies that are very user *un*friendly having an internal office problem arrise, just as I am about to finish step #19 w/ them, and need their fax to work. Plus, I still am dealing w/ an OS that is only 60% of what it was in September due to a crash, and I'm still tracking down reg codes, etc to bring the sys back after reformat. But I'll cut it short. TX for listening, and I will be chilling out and watching Fball ,reading, relaxing tomorrow. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Auth codes can be a real pain. I've had the exact same problem before. I've also entered about 50 codes by copy/paste one at a time only to have the whole page time out and have to start over again. There should be a way to log in, make all auth codes the same, then do the transfer with a single code, then again change them to random numbers on command. They do make large numbers of transfers difficult. I just did about 150 last week, and it was a pain in the a$$.
