T.R.A.F.F.I.C. ccTLDs Extended Silent Auction Discussion

It took a few days, but some bids finally started happening. The first two bids are at 200 Euros for a .in and a .us: Publish.in and organs.us.

There are a few interesting domains in the auction. I like the geonames: Versailles.com (reserve 32400 EUR), Nottinghill.com (reserve 21600 EUR), and Trier.com (reserve 5400 EUR). For this economy, I think those reserves are a tad too high (Trier seems about right), but the domains are still very nice. I also like driving.us with a reserve of 200 Euros.

Note: None of the above domains are my names.

I think there's a chance that some of the more solid low reserve domains may get bids at the last second. Otherwise, though, I agree, the silent auction is truly silent. Overall, it's probably a mix of the economy, the domains/reserves themselves, and the nature of generic ccTLD domaining. For most ccTLDs, country specific auctions might target a more attentive crowd.

Anyone else see any good deals? Pondering whether to bid on driving.us.

Actually some sale news! The lot of two domains: Blackjack.co.za and Casinos.co.za, has met its reserve of 35,000 Euros.

Looks like only about 30 out of ~1200 lots sold, which represents about 2.5%. I guess it was ccTLDs and the market is thin, but wouldn't it make more sense to shave auction catalogs down to a size that can be more easily digested and promoted?
