Publicly know domain name sales?

What percent of domain name sales do you estimate are publicly known to the mass media?

I would say at least 90% go unreported. The ultra high dollar sales are more likely to be reported. Many people who just sell to end users directly never report their sales either because there is no reason to, or confidentiality agreements.

Yeah, it is certainly under 10%. Probably closer to your estimate of 1% actually.

Even on auction sites many of the sales go unreported. Most of the people I know who make sales don't report them.

It seems like many people who report sales are basically self promoters who need the ego boost.

I think its close to 2-3% of domain sales are reported. We see a fair reporting from the big marketplaces like Afternic/BuyDomains but that represents a small portion of what domains actually are sold.
