Lightbulb I have increased GoDaddy's Premium Listing to 62% commission "maximum level"

Going to try out the 62% commission level with godaddys premium listing. I'm assuming, it will list my domain in more top listings. Anytime a user does a domain registration search, my domains will now be listed in their search results.....

i will keep you updated if my sales increase.

i have 150 domains listed with 62% commission!

Sounds interesting...

I have had a few domains listed in GD's as a Premium Listing.
I haven't sold any under that service, (as a Premium listing).

What is the 62% commission you are speaking of?
Is that what they will get off the top of the sale?
Is that what you would get off the top of the sale?

Just a little confused as to the particulars???

When you use the domain registration search field on godaddy, the results include the Premiums Listing Box below the Reg Fee Field.

Im assuming, increasing their commission to maximum.... it will increase your domain in the premiums listings... meaning, if you are a user looking to get your own .com for reg fee, and come across NOT AVAILABLE - below the search field... my domain will now pop up more often in the premiums listings box, related to the keyword he or she is searching for!.... so everytime someone searches for a specific keyword / keywords - it will show my domain available as premium price....

I sold one domain name My Fitness Store _ com 2 months ago for $500 US with a 32% commission

with 62% my domain will pop up more often, if one of the keywords is used in the search....

Ok, I gotcha on everything so far, except for the commission.
That is what I am still a bit confused about.

You sold your domain for $500.00
That is a great price for that domain!

now you say....for $500.00 with a 32% commission...
What does that mean?
You got 32% on top of the $500.00 from G.D?

Sorry, I'm not messing with you,
I just really dont understand where the commission comes from, or out of???
lol

Thx.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
edit...

I just did some searching and found the answer to my question.
I read this thread...
http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-...m-listing.html

Ok, so you they sold your domain for $500.00
and you had to pay them 32%, as a sales commission to G.D.

So you sold it for $500.00
gave G.D. 32% = $160.00
so your actual net was $340.00

Ok, still a great sale.

Please definitely keep us posted.
Good Luck to you with the maximum exposure!

Yeah lol. Let us know how it goes.. Godaddy is practically making twice as much as you are if the domain sells at a 62% commission -- nevermind factoring in what you paid for the domain...

lol, 62% commission is ridiculous

Isn't there some kind of regulatory, consumer association of some sort that deals with these kind of issues?

Look at the bright side, millions of people use GoDaddy to search for a domain name! Your domain now pops up for free as Premium! Easy as 1 2 3 - BOOOOM SOLD!

Unless you got some Premium Domain Name, then yes.... its better you don't use GoDaddy Premium Listing since the maximum price you can set is $5000!

I would like find out what kind of numbers of names are in each "premium" keyword result. This would shed light on the niche names that need to have a high commision rate set vs a niche with fewer competeing names in it that would rotate more often and not need such a high commision rate set.

I have to admit I'm curious. Please keep us updated.

PS
Does GD tell you how many times your name was shown or rotated into a search result?

I'm willing to bet out the 'millions of searches' per day, if that, 90% are domainers who wont touch 'premium domains' with a bargepole.

As for the others who are looking for $8 hand regs, $500 might be tough to swallow too.

One sale does not a gameplan make, plus you have to set your domains to autorenewal to list as premium domains, that I will not be doing at godaddy anytime soon since they charge you list for auto renewal, no codes.

Wow GD makes you sign up for auto renewal on ALL your domains if you use their premium listing? THat is absurd and I dont see how its relevant and on top of that they are making more off the domian sale than you. So you have to factor in the extra $3 per domain that you have to renew each year, not worth it.

I think the auto-renew option under premium listing configuration just means "auto-renew this premium listing monthly", not "auto-renew this domain name annually" as you're implying. I could be wrong though.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=581713

Also, even if what you're saying is true, couldn't you just turn on/off auto-renew and premium listings on your domains in sync to get around the issue?

I was just going to buy a domain at a GoDaddy auction ending in the next 3 hours. It expired on April 2010. It was a .tv and I didn't buy it because on top of the price, they wanted me to pay for one extra year. Although it had almost a year of registration left. So it was the price + $39.99 one year registration. Sucks..

Auto Renewal is for re-listing premium domains back into the premium list. Has nothing to do with renewal fee.

Well, I did research the domains i increased on commission - and noticed they do show up under some words used in my search for newly reg names.... and in other cases - the domain would not appear... i figure just like my 1st sale - end user looking for exactly what your selling is the best return from this program... using the 32%
