![]() | Got my answer .. Just received an email :" SnapNames has acquired the domain name: e*n*c*h*e*r*i*r*.*c*o*m. Multiple back-orders were placed for this domain name. As a result, a brief auction will take place to determine to whom it will be awarded." But there is something strange : My bid was 60 $ (minimum bid at this place) And I'm still the high bidder : "our current maximum bid for this domain is: $60.00. At the time this notification was generated, you were the high bidder for the domain name with a bid of: $60.00" Therefor, I do not understand why they say there are other bidders !!! Anyone has an answer ?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | One possibility is that the others who backordered for the name also input their maximum bid as $60 and haven't bothered to make it higher. Depending on how SnapNames works, it looks like if everyone made the same bid, they'll consider the first one the winner. Of course I'm just speculating. Why not contact SnapNames to clarify that? |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Yes, $60 is the default bid for everyone when they back-order a name. Everyone has the "high bid" at $60 if no one has bid more right from the start.

| (Snapnames) Bidding Your back-order is your initial-and unless you change it, maximum-bid for a domain name of interest. If no one else places a back-order, and we acquire the domain name, it will be yours for the initial bid price. If multiple back-orders are received for the same domain name, and no one sets a bid higher than the initial bid, the domain name will be awarded to the customer that placed their back-order first. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=56496 You don't have to be present in order to bid competitively at auction. Our Proxy bidding system helps ensure that, during an auction, you never bid more than the minimum amount needed to win the auction. By visiting the SnapFolio page in your account, you can easily set a maximum bid for each domain name. Like eBay, your "max bid" is the highest amount you are willing to pay at auction. During an auction, our proxy bidding system will automatically increase your bid for you, starting at the lowest possible amount, and automatically increasing your bid in response to competitive bids up to the amount necessary to maintain the high bid, but never more than your maximum bid. |

![]() | Thanks all for your posts, that helped, here is the end of the history :
The name was : E*N*C*H*E*R*I*R.*C*O*M ... "e*n*c*h*e*r*i*r" = "to bid" in French (but there is no equivalent for the "to" before the verb in French language) We had the same maximum bid (60 $) before it goes in the final auction but I was considered as the higher bidder. And we were only 2 interested in this name. The other guy/company was : saggydimes (it seems that it is the new name of snapmachine and that snapmachine was BuyDomains ... this is what I found on some forums after a google search) When I saw that it was BuyDomains in front on me, I thought "no chance" ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=56496 But I placed a 100 $ proxy bid ... then it went up to 110 And I finally placed a 150 $ proxy .... And I GOT the name at 130 U$, this is the first name I win through a backorder auction (I only used godaddy backorder before). The other bidder (BuyDomains ???) did not place a higher bid ! I'm very happy with the name. .NET was available, I registered it ... other extensions are useless with that name (no one will type them here in France). I'm planning to find a partnership with someone else in order to develop a Snipe Website for French eBay users. If you have a running "eBay snipping script" , you can contact me. Any comment will be appreciated. Thanks for reading, Grégoire. | ||||
