That is damn hilarious!

I would be so embarrassed if I had done that. There is no excuse for making a mistake like that.

Now KitKat is associated with being ignorant.....not a good image.

Has this been blogged about anywhere or am I the first one who noticed it? I actually kinda feel bad for KitKat. I love those little chocolate fingers. :xf.love:

D-:

I hate to be the person who registered the (incorrect) domain name right now.

someone (along with someone's supervisor) is so getting fired... the department's morale will probably drop for the next while too.

I wouldn't fire them.
I'd send them to English classes.

If it was me who made such a horrible error, I'd move to France.

I wonder how much they paid for it.

I'm an English teacher (college level), and you have no idea how much bad writing I have seen.

Don't worry; I'm not the grammar police, and I don't have red pen in hand when I'm not working. I correct only when I get paid to do so.

Also, I understand that many members here are ESL (English as a Second Language), so I wouldn't judge a non-native speaker if he/she didn't speak and write perfect English.

In business, however, I would expect my domain department to register domains correctly; this particular error occurred probably because the person was in a hurry and did not proofread. Spell check would not have picked up this usage error, for "were" is a word--just not the right word.

Aside from that, it's a horrible, too long, non-memorable domain.

:td:

What were they thinking?

Yup, the whois has changed and the domain now goes to KitKat's site. Hmmm... separate DNS settings from the misspelled domain though. I wonder if the "cybersquatter" was actually an associate/employee of KitKat? I guess we'll never know.

That's an interesting angle.....and it would be pretty clever publicity stunt if they played it off right.

"KitKat takes on cybersquatter and wins!" That would be such an easy press release and it would cost almost nothing to do......just two domains and one press release.

I think this may have been a genuine "cybersquat" and not an inside job. When I checked the Whois last night the "where" domain was registered to someone in South Africa. Wouldn't we all love to know the back story on this one...

This is hilarious. The footer still sports an email address:

This is dumb.

Aside from not being able to spell, Nestle also shows they dont understand domains at all.

I love working at a company and getting the WHOIS confirmation. I once got a huge domain for a national publication, and I totally could have routed it to my own email, but nooooo. I cyber didn't.

I didn't get me a piece of that domain :)
