Warning Iranian Theif Takes It To New Level!

As most in the community know there is a prolific domain theif from the middle east ( IRAN ) that has stolen several high profile names. He has been spotted and stopped several times yet continues to operate and be successful at it.

Well it has reached a new level. He is now so brazen and " untouchable " in his mind he has now started to operate an active web site offering the stolen names for sale

The following site www.luxarydomains.com feature what are known to be STOLEN or hijacked domains. The magnitude is shocking and likely not all he has taken. I will go further to state that alot of those victims are still clueless.

DO NOT PURCHASE ANY OF THESE NAMES FROM HIM!!!!

Posted names so they are cached should he take site down.

It's very sad I hope someone may see a name they own and can get it back. I cannot take the credit on this though, there are bigger fish than I to thank.

Really frustrates me because those are really nice names in there and don't know what owners did wrong. But it is now stolen

--> It depends on registrar! Last year they were available to break authorization algorithm of a registrar. They generate the authorization code and transfer the domain to them. Its that simple!
Do not register domains with unpopular registrar.

--> Also, with brute force, they can crack your password --> change email --> send authorization code to their email----> transfer to them.
Always put a strong password(comprising of numbers and symbols if possible) and regularly change the password monthly.

--> With Keylogger, if u run a java script that will install a keylogger in your computer with smtp server, they will get everything you typed on their email!
Always have a updated antivirus / antispyware on your computer.

--> Phising
Making a fake login screen to steal your account data.
Always look for lock sign on your browser address bar or type manually on the address bar

Good Luck!!

They didn't just make up that name -- Matthew Smith appears to be one of the biggest victims . I received an email offering these domains for sale today, and was rather suspicious. So I contacted an address of Matthew Smith from the whois history (baileythomas at gmail). He says "the account was hacked" and that many dozen of the names were his. Then I went to NP to post a warning for other domainers, and I'm glad that someone beat me to it! Good for NP keeping an eye out for fraud! I hope the thief is caught and that nobody ends up buying a stolen domain.

I am sure if Matt takes the proper steps he can get them back. The trouble and financial aspect with making it a legal matter enters once names leave registrars, change ownership etc.

The reality names will be sold, some may not be gotten back, most should and at this point spread the word to avoid buying them period.

Unbelievable!! These guys robbed the WHOLE portfolio of generics from the folks at Complaints.com. I've communicated with Matt quite a few times, and know he is very passionate about his domains.

This worries me because they were not using a free email address, and yet it happened anyway. No one is safe from these scum bags.

Nice find JP.

How could you tell that the names were stolen?...What are the clues?

...So, we can avoid inadvertently buying stolen domains in the future, if we're approached by a 'seller'...
