RE: godaddy, moniker, snapnames...

I have a question regarding companies like the three I have listed.

If their customers have names in the redemption period can they obtain those names and sell them?

Do they have to wait until they delete first to catch and sell?

Answer to your first question is your second question, and that's if they catch

them first before anyone else does upon availability. One exception, though, is
if either Go Daddy or Moniker (or whoever registrar) is the last sponsoring one
of those names and their respective last registrants opt to redeem them.

I've got an odd one about GoDaddy, if you don't mind, keith...

GoDaddy listed a name in TDNAM - with a 'buy it' price - and, WHOis shows the current owner of the name, and the name expiring in Sept 2009 (ie its not a drop, or in redemption)....

...I hit the 'Buy it' button, & went through the normal checkout process...but...I tried a GoDaddy coupon code - which GoDaddy accepted - and, which vastly reduced the price to me....then, I paid by credit card (the lower price), and the purchase was confirmed to me by email by GoDaddy.

This was 2 days ago - but, the name has not yet shown up in my account.

(i) Do purchases through TDNAM usually take some time to appear in yur account at GD?
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=537576

(ii) Do you reckon I'll get the name at the coupon-reduced price - as per the invoice & the GoDaddy confirmed-purchase email - even though the name was asking a higher price, and it doesn't appear to be a drop?

The domains purchased on expiring and closeout sections generally take about a week to show up in your account.

During this time the original registrant is allowed to pay a penalty to reclaim the domain, but that rarely happens.

As far as the coupon goes you can use it over and over again to buy names in the $12.xx range instead of $15.xx

Thanks, Brad,

...In this case the coupon took the price down from $100 to .99c...lol...

(Hey, I thought it was worth a try...!!........And, to my amazement, GD accepted the coupon at checkout, and confirmed that price after payment).

Considering that their whole system is basically automated, if you don't draw attention to the name I bet it will go through.
