Would eBay be a good place to sell a specific domain name?

As most on here know by now I own a certain domain, JesusChri.st, and apart from a continual stream of low ball offers I have not had much luck with it - I even had to take down the NKJV of the Bible that I put on it - I never even contemplated that the Bible could be copyrighted!

Well I keep going back to the domain and seeing if I feel like developing it again and I don't, I am not a religious person so there is no philanthropic drive to develop it. On top of that I am now up to my eyes in another two development projects that are each to say the least full-time occupations.

So I have been contemplating putting the domain on eBay and hitting the press and TV hard with emails about the sale to reporters, a few phone calls, etc..

Now my reason for supposing that this domain 'might' do well on eBay is the amount of public interest that could possibly be instigated by the press if they took the story up. After all could you imagine the headlines "Jesus Christ being sold on eBay!", "Who will own Jesus Christ on the internet?", "What is Jesus Christ worth?", etc.. I mean the possibilities are endless and if taken up by the press, well..............

Any thoughts on this would really be appreciated.

Domain hacks require a level of understanding about the branding of domain names that the generally public doesn't have. As a result, you're most likely to find the best results either through development or in the domain re-sale market itself. For the public, at large, .com is still king.

Keynes, your point is well taken.

The idea about running it on eBay was to get the domain in the press, I know over here in the UK every few weeks our papers mention domains or other weird things sold on eBay. But I have had great trouble also getting real end users such as televangelists, churches, missions, etc. to be aware of the domain. On eBay it owuld seem would bring about a greter chance of these end-users being made aware.

It is a really difficult choice, but I now have neither the time nor inclination to develop it so finding the right sales outlet is a rather important choice when it comes to likely end price. I am a little concerned about the chances on an aftermarket site as I have had it listed on sedo for a while now and although getting 'views of offer' no domainer there has made an offer. I get offers 2 or 3 times a week via email by listing the name for sale on my nic.st details.

This is going to need a lot of thinking about and for the pros and cons to be considered carefully.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this, all opinions are welcome.

In my opinion, Ebay is not a good place for selling domains under any conditions.
